Liverpool v Chelsea Bet Builder Tips: Saturday, January, 21st

We’ve got Liverpool vs Chelsea Bet Builder Tips for this crucial match. The opening game of the Premier League weekend is hosted by the red half of Merseyside, both teams will be desperate for a win here after a disappointing first half of the season. Instead of predicting a winner, here at bettingexpert Expert Insights, we have constructed a stats-based bet builder for this clash.

In this article:

Liverpool v Chelsea Preview

Saturday, January 21st, 12:30 (UK)

Considering these two sides finished 2nd and 3rd in last season’s Premier League, few would’ve expected these two footballing giants to be struggling this badly at the midway stage of the campaign. Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool sit in 9th, level on points with Graham Potter’s Chelsea on 28. They’re already 19 behind the league leaders and 10 behind Newcastle, who sit in the final Champions League spot.

The home results haven’t been too bad from a Liverpool perspective, accumulating 20 points from a possible 27. But iit’s on the road where they’ve been dire with just two wins in nine. That’s certainly not acceptable for a side expected to be challenging for the title once again.

Only seven sides have scored fewer than Chelsea, five of those occupy the final five spots in the division. The Blues boast just a +1 goal difference over 19 matches which is pretty remarkable given they scored 43 times more than they conceded in the 21/22 season.

Liverpool arrive here as favourites, which comes as little surprise given it’s at Anfield. They are unbeatable at times but this hasn’t been the case of late. Chelsea are priced around the 4.20 mark, not something that appeals given they’ve won just three times in 10 on their travels this campaign and have failed to win any of their last five away matches in the league.

Liverpool v Chelsea Stats & Facts

  • With 31, no other side has seen more goals scored in the first half of Premier League games than Liverpool this season.
  • There has not been a 0-0 between these sides in the Premier League since February 2008.
  • 11 players have played for both clubs in the Premier League era.
  • The last seven goals in Premier League matches between these sides have all come inside the first 45 minutes.

Liverpool v Chelsea Best Bet

Rate him or not, Darwin Nunez certainly has goals in him. He isn’t everyone’s cup of tea but the Uruguayan is involved in the attacking action for the Reds more often than not. Since his arrival from Benfica in the summer, the forward has averaged 4.2 shots per game and has taken three or more shots in all of his 10 starts for the club.

Despite the underwhelming Premier League campaign, Liverpool have still scored in each of their nine home matches with 23 coming in total. They create plenty of chances at home and have registered an xG of greater than two in eight games from a possible nine. Their chances of finding the back of the net are pretty high.

In their 10 away trips, Chelsea have conceded 14 in total with just three clean sheets in that time, the goaless draw at the Brentford Community Stadium in October being their most recent shutout. They’ve travelled to the City Ground and Craven Cottage this calendar year and conceded in both, these two clubs have scored less than Klopp’s side despite playing an extra game in front of the home fans.

Cards have been a familiar sight for Chelsea on the road, they’ve received at least one card in nine of their 10 matches this season, only West Ham failed to pick up a caution in their trip to Anfield but they have one of the lowest card totals in the league and 14 less than Potter’s side.

Michael Oliver is set to take charge here, he’s brandished 48 yellows and one red card this season and has booked an away team player in all 15 matches. He’s taken charge of two games involving Chelsea this campaign and has given them six cards, with at least one arriving in both matches.

The proposed bet builder has all the stats to back it up and will hopefully go all the way, it’s a huge game between two struggling clubs, let’s hope for an action-packed 90 minutes and of course, a winning bet.

  • Darwin Nunez Over 2.5 Shots
  • Liverpool Over 0.5 Goals
  • Chelsea Over 0.5 Cards

Bet Builder odds: 2.05
