Our expert, Tom Winch, has a couple of solid-looking Luton vs Liverpool predictions and tips ahead of the Sunday afternoon kick-off in the Premier League As always, there are plenty of key OPTA stats and facts to reinforce selections.
In this article:
England, Premier League, Sunday, November 5th, 16:30 (UK)
Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool have visited some spectacular stadiums in recent years – Camp Nou, Parc de Princes, Allianz Arena and Estadio Santiago Bernabeu, to name just a few. Forget those. It’s all eyes on The Kenny during another intriguing Premier League Sunday.
Kenilworth Road provides a different type of experience, not quite the glitz and glam those mentioned above provide although the fans make that special type of buzz. It’s Luton’s debut Premier League campaign, and they deserve to welcome the very best. Liverpool are in town on Sunday afternoon and are expected to win comfortably.
Our in-house data guru, BETSiE, has Luton Town down as a 9.9% shot of winning this match-up. Liverpool? 75.2%.
Liverpool have earned 23 points from an opening 30, a very respectable return given the midfield overhaul throughout the summer months. Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai have started all ten matches since the opening day whilst Ryan Gravenberch has gradually become the final piece of the jigsaw. The trio are young, exciting and provide plenty of energy, a match made in heaven with the German boss.
It’s fair to say that ‘little old Luton’ were written off months ago before a ball was even kicked in fact. The Hatters have picked up five points from their opening ten outings, they’re yet to win at home, but oh my, it’ll be some performance if they could earn all three points here, wouldn’t it?
Rob Edwards won’t take any risks on Sunday, he’ll set up with a back five and hope they can absorb the continuous waves of attack. Luton average just 2.3 shots on target per match, the lowest in the division. They’re third worst for xG conceded and only three other sides have shipped more goals. It’s a tough ask for the Luton squad but they’ll give it a good go, that’s for sure.
Despite their flaws, it is Liverpool we’re talking about here. They have an awesome attack, arguably one of the best in world football. Mo Salah has been tremendous again this season, just like he always is. The forward has bagged eight and assisted four times across the opening ten Premier League fixtures. Darwin Nunez and Diogo Jota are expected to start alongside the exceptional Egyptian, it’s an attack that screams goals. The trio have all scored in back-to-back outings for the club. Impressive.
Liverpool have seven wins across the current campaign, and six of those have arrived with a two-goal margin or greater, exactly what we need for this selection. If Liverpool are victorious by exactly two goals, we’ll win half of this bet. Away dominance has potential here and if Klopp’s men win by three or more, we’ll receive a full payout.

Mo Salah, the Egyptian King, is a genius and I’m backing the man to cause some damage in the capital. The Egyptian has scored in all three previous Premier League games, five in total which includes two braces. He’s an attractive price again in the ‘Multi Scorers’ market, especially against a side who are vulnerable and allows plenty of chances.
It’s remarkable just how consistent Salah has been over the years, it’s become more of a shock if he fails to get himself on the scoresheet. With this arguably being Liverpool’s easiest game so far this season, the forwards should have multiple goalscoring chances. Mo is also his side’s penalty taker, an added bonus to any goal-related selection.
I certainly believe this bet has a cracking chance. Alfie Doughty, who’ll likely be the man with the unwanted task of keeping the forward quiet, will be in for a long long afternoon. If he’s not on the very top of his game, Salah could have a field day against him and his fellow Hatters.
We saw just how comfortable Villa were in their win over Luton last weekend, Tottenham dominated proceedings in the opening 45 minutes here despite failing to make a breakthrough. Early on in the season, Brighton and Chelsea showed a huge gulf in class in comparison to the Premier League newbies. Everything leads towards a high-scoring away victory, therefore, selecting a man on the top of his game to bag a brace, just makes perfect sense.

Reece Burke and Amari’i Bell are both doubtful for the clash, perhaps making the Luton vs Liverpool team news section one to wince at for Hatters fans. Albert Sambi Lokonga hasn’t featured since Luton’s 1-1 draw at home against Wolves but is expected to return in late November. A 5-3-2 formation is expected from the hosts, with Carlton Morris as the key attacking asset.
We’re already in the know about Andy Robertson’s shoulder injury. Stefan Bajcetic is expected to return very soon but isn’t expected to play a part here. Thiago is also absent, and there’s very little idea of when he will make a return.
Luis Diaz has had some horrid news in regard to his family over the last few days. The Colombian isn’t expected to be involved.
