Luton vs Sheffield United Bet Builder: Friday, August, 26th

With another round of EFL Championship action waiting just around the corner, it means our Luton vs Sheffield United bet builder tips are not all that far away either. Tips that will focus on whether the Hatters can build on their win over Swansea last time out.

While they will also focus on the Blades and with Paul Heckingbottom’s men starting the weekend at the top of English football’s second tier, it is a standing they will look to maintain at the end of it.

Luton vs Sheffield United Preview

Friday, August 26th, 20:00 (UK)

After reaching the Championship play-offs last season, it has been a rather slow start for Luton. One that sees Nathan Jones’ men start this weekend lying 18th and with only one league win to their name.

One that came as recently as last Saturday and with a 2-0 win at Swansea now recorded in the history books, manager Jones and his players will hope that their campaign has finally got underway.

Whether Luton punched above their weight last season and this is their natural regression, is something that has been argued in recent weeks. Now though, the Kenilworth Road will look to silence the naysayers when they play host to Sheffield United on Friday.

A task that will be easier said than done, as the Blades currently find themselves straddling the top step of the Championship league ladder. A position that has come courtesy of early consistency.

With this division being known as a war of attrition, it can be difficult to get momentum going at the best of times. Thankfully for Paul Heckingbottom and his players, they come into this game having not lost any of their last four league outings.

A run that sees them possess a point advantage over a trio of teams behind them and although the league table should not be given too much credence at this stage, it is undoubtedly a pleasing sight for fans of the Blades.

While should the red and white half of Sheffield come out on top this Friday, it will temporarily give them a four-point lead at the top. A margin that would only further enhance their credentials as early automatic promotion hopefuls.

Luton vs Sheffield United Stats & Facts

  • Before Friday night’s clash, the head-to-head record favours Sheffield United. There have been 19 wins compared to Luton’s 15 and there have also been 10 draws along the way.
  • Sheffield United are currently top of the EFL Championship and they are also unbeaten in each of their last four league outings.
  • The Blades have scored two goals in each of those four Championship fixtures.
  • There have been under 2.5 goals in each of Luton’s last eight league matches.

Luton vs Sheffield United Bet Builder

With Sheffield United being in the form that they are currently in, it is hard to overlook them in terms of Friday’s result. However, with the Championship being the competition that it is, I am not going to put all my eggs in one basket.
This means for starters, I have played it rather safe and this comes in backing the Blades to avoid defeat at Kenilworth Road. If only because Luton will have home advantage and be buoyed by last weekend’s win at Swansea.

This means if Luton are only good for a point at best, they are also likely to concede and with the form that Iliman Ndiaye is in at present, he has certainly caught my attention from an anytime goal point of view.

With the French forward having already scored three goals in the league this season, I believe adding him to the bet builder will add a lot more value than compared to Rhian Brewster. Especially as the ex-Liverpool forward is yet to score this season.

In addition to this, it probably makes sense to consider there being two goals or fewer in each of Luton’s last eight league outings and because I do not see that streak being beaten on Friday, this addition is also on my bet builder.

Because I have opted for Ndiaye to score anytime, it has added a considerable amount of fat to my bet builder before a fourth pick is added. I could stop here and take odds of 11.00 but instead, I am also going to add under five total cards, to further enhance it to 17.00.

  • Sheffield United win or draw
  • Iliman Ndiaye to score anytime
  • Under 3 total goals
  • Under 5 total cards

Bet Builder odds: 17.00

Odds via bet365 as at 10:00 August 25th 2022. Odds may now differ.
