Italy, Serie A, Sunday, February 18th, 19:45 (UK)
Monza extended their unbeaten run to three matches as they appear to be meandering to a mid-table Serie A finish. The weekend 0-0 draw with Verona was true to form for sides that only have two teams in the league who have scored fewer than their 21 goals.
At the other end of the field, things have improved since goalkeeper Michele Di Gregorio returned to action. Three successive clean sheets suggest Raffaele Palladino’s men will at least make it tough for the visitors.
Milan won the reverse 3-0 to register a third successive victory against the Biancorossi since their promotion to the Italian topflight. They won both games at home by three goals, but this fixture last term was settled by a solitary strike from Junior Messias, further suggesting this won’t be a walkover for Stefano Pioli’s side.
In picking the shots market, I am looking at one of Milan’s defenders to continue to make an impact in the opposition box. In the absence of AC Milan’s injured defenders (see Team News), one of the players to most benefit is Matteo Gabbia who has started five matches in a row. The 24-year-old was involved in his first clean sheet against Napoli at the weekend but has had a shot in four of those five starts. The odds of 3.00 look like a big price for him to do so again here.

Vignato, Caprari, and of course, Papu Gomez, who faces a two-year suspension due to doping charges, all miss out for AC Milan’s trip to Monza for the home side.
The Rossoneri have suffered a catalogue of injuries to their defenders with centre-backs Mattia Caldara, Pierre Kalulu, Malick Thiaw and Fikayo Tomori all currently out but hoping to return at some stage this month.
Samuel Chukwueze returned from AFCON during the week to a hero’s welcome from coaches and players who had been watching his progress on the international stage intently. Chukwueze left Milan for his international commitments at the start of January (2nd), vacating his domestic duties for nearly six weeks.
Monza possible starting lineup:
Di Gregorio; Carboni, Mari, Izzo; Zerbin, Pessina, Bondo, Birindelli; Mota, Colpani; Colombo
AC Milan possible starting lineup:
Maignan; Hernández, Gabbia, Kjaer; Calabria, Bennancer, Adli, Leao, Loftus-Cheek; Pulisic, Giroud
