With another Premier League weekend waiting just around the corner, it means our Newcastle vs Manchester City bet builder tips are not all that far away either. Tips that will focus on whether the Magpies can return to winning ways on Sunday.
While they will also focus on the might of Pep Guardiola’s men and after getting the better of Bournemouth last weekend, the Etihad outfit will look for more of the same on Tyneside.
In this article:
Sunday, August 21st, 16:30 (UK)
After getting the better of Nottingham Forest in the opening weekend of the season, Newcastle’s unbeaten start to the campaign continued a week later. A point away at Brighton means Eddie Howe’s men already have four for their troubles. They had this many after the first 10 matches last season.
However, adding to that tally may be something of a herculean task on Sunday, as the Magpies are preparing to welcome Manchester City to town and after suffering a 4-0 reverse at St James’ Park last season, a similar outcome is always lurking around the corner.
Then again, Newcastle have managed to keep two clean sheets this season and it is also fair to suggest that the club have certainly got their house in order since last December’s festive beating.
Although any hopes of a third successive clean sheet may have to be considered wishful thinking. Because with Pep Guardiola’s men already finding the net on six separate occasions, they are already going up through the gears.
Admittedly they only needed to reach second gear against Bournemouth last Saturday, as Scott Parker’s side were disposed of by virtue of four unanswered goals – a tally that saw Erling Haaland miss out himself.
Even though City’s newest attacking addition failed to get on the scoresheet himself, he was on hand to turn creator and with this also being a key component to his game, he is certain to give Newcastle little rest on Sunday.
As Newcastle prepare to play host to Manchester City on Sunday, they are going to have to make sure their defence is at its absolute best and that is easier said than done. Then again, acumen at the back has certainly been on show in the first two weeks of the season.
That is why I have plumped for a draw after 45 minutes and although my hunch is that City will eventually find an additional gear after the interval, there is not enough value to back an away win on Tyneside.
While for those who really want to throw caution to the wind and back Newcastle to avoid defeat at home, you can back Eddie Howe’s men in the double chance market. A wager that currently sees them priced at 3.00
In terms of my bet builder though, I am going to once again shine the spotlight on Erling Haaland and after drawing a blank against Bournemouth, I am backing the Norwegian to score this weekend.
Of course, there are plenty of other options when it comes to City goals and for those who also look the likes of Kevin De Bruyne or Jack Grealish, they can also be backed at odds of 3.20 to score anytime.
As for the referee, I do not see the need for him to wave his red card and therefore, this is going to be the third leg of my bet builder. Add in a conservative 12 corners at most and this combination of factors is currently priced at 11.00
