As the Premier League season approaches its final few weeks, we have another Super Sunday on the horizon and this also means that our Newcastle vs Tottenham bet builder tips are not far away either.
Tips that will focus on whether Newcastle can return to winning ways after an out-of-sorts performance last weekend. While they are tips that will also be asking the same of Tottenham, as the race for fourth looks like it is passing them by.
In this article:
England, Premier League, Sunday, April 23rd, 16:00 (UK)
It may not be an official playoff for the final Champions League invite, but Sunday’s meeting between Newcastle and Tottenham has some rather high stakes attached to it. This one could define who finishes in the top four at the end of the season.
At present, it is the Magpies who find themselves in the box seat before the weekend’s clash at St James’ Park. Three points clear of Spurs and perhaps more importantly, Eddie Howe’s men have a game in hand.
Although they have superiority in terms of league points, there was perhaps an element of fortune when looking at last Saturday’s results. Newcastle were well beaten at Aston Villa and were left hoping for a favour from Bournemouth. Thankfully for them, those hopes came true.
Admittedly there has not been a great deal of bookmaker confidence in a Tottenham team that is lacking confidence themselves and this was apparent by the time Bournemouth earned a hugely important away win in N17.
Important at both ends of the table, as the Cherries turned the North London atmosphere rather sour. What should have been a routine win for Cristian Stellini’s side was a miserable defeat instead and suddenly, even a Europa League berth looks at risk.
Should Sunday’s visitors slip up once more and results go against them elsewhere, qualification for the Europa League may soon become the Europa Conference League instead. Failure to stem that tide and there may be no continental football on offer at all.
When Newcastle and Tottenham usually meet, goals are not too far away. The last six league clashes between the two have seen 24 goals hit the back in total – an average of four per game.
With it being an important game at such a pivotal point of the season, I am hoping that there are going to be plenty of goals at St James’ Park. More importantly, I am hoping for a Newcastle win above all else.
Yes, Eddie Howe’s men were outclassed at Villa Park last Saturday but you get the feeling this will be the exception rather than the rule. Especially, as Newcastle won each of their previous five league matches.
The Magpies flying high and Callum Wilson flying onto the scoresheet to go with it. There could be a toss-up between himself and Isak up top but personally, I think the former Bournemouth forward will be given the nod.
While I am also expecting Harry Kane to nod or prod a goal home on Sunday. His attacking output may be undone by defensive deficiencies at the other end of the pitch, but he should not be overlooked in terms of this bet builder.
Another thing that should not be overlooked is my decision to back under six total goals. Considering four is the average since the summer of 2020, this buffer should help my combination of 17.00 get over the line.
