Nottingham Forest vs Burnley Bet Builder Tips: The Reds too strong for the Clarets

Nottingham Forest win

After only one loss from their last six games last season helped Nottingham Forest stay up by four points, Steve Cooper’s side has continued the momentum going into this season with two wins from four, despite playing three of the ‘big six’ already. Despite being pinned in their own half for the majority of the match against Arsenal, Forest had the better xG, recording 1.18 to Arsenal’s 0.83, despite only having 22% possession.

This was followed up by a dominant display against Sheffield United, with an 89th-minute Chris Wood winner giving Forest a 2-1 win. A controversial 3-2 defeat to Manchester United was next, with Cooper’s side going 2-0 up inside four minutes. If using bet365 early payout offer, you would’ve been paid out for a win.

Nottingham Forest will be full of confidence, fresh off a 1-0 victory at Stamford Bridge over Chelsea. They sit in 9th despite a tough start, and Cooper will be hoping a home game against a newly promoted Burnley with zero points is the perfect chance to push up the table.

Vincent Kompany’s side won many plaudits for their entertaining football, winning the championship with 101 points. However, the transition back to Premier League football has not been smooth for the Clarets.

Manchester City were not ideal opening-day opponents, and the treble winners dispatched Burnley 3-0 at Turf Moor. This was followed up by a 3-1 defeat at home to Aston Villa before being outclassed again, losing 5-2 to Tottenham.

The Clarets have lost three on the bounce and are yet to play an away game this season. A visit to a raucous City Ground certainly isn’t ideal.

BTTS – Yes

This season so far, BTTS has landed in 75% of games for Nottingham Forest, the exception being the smash-and-grab 1-0 victory over Chelsea. In this game, the home side accumulated 2.3 xG, so they were unlucky not to score.

To end last season, six of Forest’s last seven games saw BTTS, with the 1-0 home win against Arsenal the only game of these to not see BTTS. In total, 58% of games at the City Ground last season saw BTTS.

Burnley have seen BTTS in 2/3 games thus far, losing 3-1 to Aston Villa and 5-2 to Tottenham. The 3-0 dismantling by Manchester City has been the only game Vincent Kompany’s side has not scored in.

The Clarets were potent in front of goal last campaign, ending as the Championship’s top scorers with 87 goals. Kompany’s attacking ethos may make games more open, but it leads his side to typically creating an abundance of chances. Last season, 57% of Burnley’s away games saw BTTS.

With BTTS in all bar one game for both teams, 1.7 looks like good value for it to happen again this Monday.

Taiwo Awoniyi to Score Anytime

The last selection comes in the form of a goalscorer. Nottingham Forest’s main marksman is 26-year-old Nigerian striker Taiwo Awoniyi, who scored in the opening three games and was unlucky not to score against Chelsea. He also impressed on international duty, scoring in Nigeria’s 6-0 demolition of Sao Tome and Principe.

Awoniyi has continued where he left off last season, scoring in the final four games with back-to-back braces against Southampton and Chelsea before crucial goals against Arsenal and Crystal Palace.

The Nigerian enjoyed a fruitful first season in England, scoring ten goals in just 17 starts. He looks on course to comfortably beat this tally this time around and will be aiming to at least match his tally of 15 goals in his final season at Union Berlin.

With Burnley playing open and expansive football, there should be plenty of attacking chances for Forest. Burnley currently have the worst defence in the league (11 goals conceded) despite playing a game less than everyone else. Awoniyi will be looking to add to his tally on Monday night.
