The Premier League relegation battle is no nearer its answer with six games left to play, and Nathan Joyes is back on duty to provide his Nottingham Forest vs Wolves prediction, team news, lineups and fixtures preview.
Having landed seven winning selections from his last nine Nottingham Forest tips, our man is back with three more as the Reds welcome Wolves to the City Ground.
England, Premier League, Saturday, April 13th, 15:00 (UK)
Nottingham Forest’s three-match unbeaten run came to an end in the capital, having fallen to a 3-1 defeat at the hands of Tottenham. However, despite falling behind to a Murillo own goal, Forest didn’t fold at first.
Chris Wood landed us another winner and scored his 12th Premier League goal of the season. It should have been 13 as Forest continued to press but the Kiwi somehow missed from point blank range to go ahead in the first half.
The visitors could do nothing about a fabulous strike from Micky van de Ven before Pedro Porro wrapped up the points. But Forest showed a resilient performance for large periods, and back at home, a similar performance they put in against Fulham would be good enough to beat Wolves.
The visitors haven’t won in four and have failed to win away since mid-February, scoring just one goal against Turf Moor.
Wolves have struggled without Pedro Neto and Hee-Chan Hwang, and lacking firepower could cost them at the City Ground.
It appears as though neither side are capable of keeping clean sheets. Nottingham Forest’s run now stretches back 13 games while Wolves have failed to keep the ball out of the back of the net in four of their last five games.
Forest’s inability to defend from set pieces hasn’t been eradicated, and although they didn’t against Tottenham, the North London club stretched their backline apart on numerous occasions. A clean sheet doesn’t look forthcoming.
Wolves don’t head into this fixture with high confidence defensively either, especially after throwing away a lead vs West Ham in front of their own fans. That made it three games in their last four, where Gary O’Neil’s side conceded two goals in a match.
Forest need points in order to stay in the Premier League, and their first-half performance vs Fulham was one of their best this campaign. Wolves will do well to keep Morgan Gibbs-White and Chris Wood quiet.
Last season, both of their Premier League matches finished 1-1, and I’m once again anticipating both teams picking the ball out of their net at least once.
With Wolves continuing to struggle in the striker department, it appears to be worth taking a chance on their Algerian who continues to thrive in the second half of the season. So much so that O’Neill decided to play him in a higher role vs West Ham.
Having scored three goals from his last five appearances for Wolves, the ball-carrying left-back has shown to be dangerous in the box from set pieces – Forest’s Achilles heel.
With a header from a free kick vs Burnley, a tap-in from close range against Fulham, as well as poking home six yards out against Coventry, the Algerian is finding space inside the box.
With Forest continuing to show vulnerability inside the box time and time again, expect Ait-Nouri to be sensing and sniffing out any free space or poor clearances on Trentside this Saturday.
Nottingham Forest vs Wolves Prediction odds via bet365 as at 20:00, April 7th, 2024. Odds may now differ.
Nottingham Forest will still be without Nuno Tavares, Willy Boly and Taiwo Awoniyi for their Premier League fixture against Wolves. The trio may be out for a while, and Nuno Santo will have to continue to guide Forest away from the relegation zone without their assistance.
As mentioned above, Wolves continue to operate without Hwang and Neto, and it’s no surprise to see that they have lost their edge in front of goal without the pair. Once again, it’s likely Pablo Sarabia will lead the line, who scored for the first time in seven matches vs West Ham.
Nottingham Forest possible starting lineup:
Sels; Aina, Murillo, Omabamidele, Williams, Danilo, Yates, Hudson-Odoi, Gibbs-White, Elanga, Wood
Wolves possible starting lineup:
Sa; Toti, Kilman, Bueno, Doherty, Gomes, Lemina, Semedo, Ait-Nouri, Doyle, Sarabia
