We’ve got Premier League best bets for this weekend with four matches on the card. It was a slight loss in this article last week. Still, 1/3 isn’t bad considering we went for low stakes and high odds. That hasn’t affected the overalls. I’m still in profit for the season in the Premier League and well up since the turn of the year.
We’re looking at four matches here starting with the Friday night kickoff at the City Ground. We end with the final match of the weekend at the Emirates as leaders Arsenal host Patrick Vieira’s Crystal Palace.

Nottingham Forest vs Newcastle Preview
Friday, March 17th, 20:00 (UK)
Forest host Newcastle to kick off the weekend aiming to get back to winning ways. It’s no wins in five for Steve Cooper’s side. Forest are just two points above the relegation zone so points are a necessity. They’re conceding too many goals right now. Forest have let in nine in their last three matches despite playing two sides below them in the table during that spell. That will need to improve here.
Newcastle’s top 4 bid looks to be back on track after that vital win against Wolves last weekend. It was their first in five matches and also the first time they’ve scored more than once in a Premier League match in 2023. Goals are the issue for Eddie Howe’s side with just one in their last four Premier League away games.
Nottingham Forest vs Newcastle Best Bet
I like Forest here. They have the worst record in the top division on the road but are a different proposition in front of their home supporters. Forest haven’t lost at home in the league since September. they’ve hosted Manchester City, Chelsea and Liverpool at the City Ground in that time.
The Asian handicap line is at Newcastle -0.75 for this one. That feels very generous considering how Newcastle have struggled for form and goals of late. It’s also harsh on the hosts. Forest are so strong at the City Ground that I can’t overlook them here.

Southampton vs Tottenham Preview

The Saints host Spurs on the South Coast hoping to turn things around. Southampton boss Ruben Selles has overseen a slight jump in results since his appointment. The win over Leicester was encouraging, the draw away at Manchester United even more so. Selles will just hope that the 2-0 defeat to Brentford last weekend doesn’t kickstart a return to the norm.
Tottenham are perhaps the most inconsistent team in the Premier League right now with six wins and five losses in their 11 league fixtures in 2023. Spurs have struggled to replicate their encouraging home form when playing on the road. Consecutive defeats to Leicester and Wolves have done little for the top 4 chances.
Spurs have lost four in a row in all competitions for the first time in almost four years. They failed to score in the three most recent of those games. Spurs haven’t lost four in a row without scoring for 40 years.
Southampton vs Tottenham Best Bet
The bookies are expecting a small win for Tottenham and it’s hard to disagree. Despite some inconsistencies, this is still a side sitting in 4th that has won three of its last four matches facing a team bottom of the league. Spurs have won four of their last six against Southampton in all competitions including a 4-1 demolition in the reverse fixture back in August.

Chelsea vs Everton Preview

Chelsea host Everton hoping that a run of three straight wins has finally got the Graham Potter era back on track. The Blues won 3-1 at Leicester last weekend. It was the first time since October that they scored more than twice in a competitive match.
Talk of a return to form is a little premature. The Blues are still struggling for goals and were more than a little fortunate not to concede more than once in that win over Leicester last weekend.
Everton have now won three of their seven league matches under Sean Dyche, as many as they won in the 20 fixtures before he took charge at Goodison Park. The problem for Dyche is that the Toffees still aren’t travelling well. It’s three wins from four at home but one point from three on the road.
Chelsea vs Everton Best Bet
It’s hard to go too far against Chelsea considering the historical record between the two clubs. Still, a couple of wins over Leeds and Leicester – two clubs in the bottom five – is not irrefutable proof that the Blues are kicking. The Asian handicap line is Chelsea -1. That feels generous for a side that last week won its first match of 2023 by more than one goal. Should the Blues win by one goal, the stakes are refunded.

Arsenal vs Crystal Palace Preview

The leaders Arsenal host Crystal Palace aiming to maintain their push for a first title in two decades. The Gunners are back firing with five wins in arow in the Premier League. It’s the third time this season they’ve won five on the trot and with home games against Crystal Palace and Leeds to come, there’s an expectation that they should make it six in a row.
Especially considering that Palace are going through a tough time. The Eagles haven’t won a Premier League match in 2023. It’s three defeats in a row and four since they’ve scored a goal.
They have, however, got a good record against the Gunners. Palace have only lost two of their last nine Premier League matches against Arsenal, winning two. One of those sole defeats came in that reverse fixture at Selhurst Park back on the opening day.
Arsenal vs Crystal Palace Best Bet
Arsenal are the big favourites to get the three points in a convincing victory. Backing Palace +1.75 goals on the Asian handicap line was a tempting option but instead, I’m going for something a little longer. Arsenal have won 10 Premier League matches at the Emirates this season but they kept a clean sheet in just two of them. Palace’s streak of failing to score has to end soon and this tough run of fixtures is affecting the perception of Patrick Vieira’s side. These odds are long considering this bet would have landed in 8/13 home games this campaign.
