Chelsea vs Man Utd Preview
Saturday, October 22nd, 17:30 (UK)
The biggest match of the weekend sees Chelsea host Manchester United at Stamford Bridge. The Blues’ strong start under new manager Graham Potter hit a slight bump in midweek with that 0-0 draw to Brentford. Still, it’s been a strong first few months with clear improvements in performances and results.
Manchester United have also improved after a difficult start to the season. Erik Ten Hag will be hoping that the situation with Cristiano Ronaldo doesn’t overshadow the good work his side is doing on the pitch. The impressive performance in the 2-0 win over Spurs wasn’t their first this season. They have, however, taken seven points from three tough matches since that thumping 6-3 defeat to Manchester City at the start of the month.
Chelsea vs Man Utd Best Bet
We’re going down a slightly different route for this bet. Manchester United have looked good lately and Chelsea’s dropped points in midweek showed there is a long way to go under Graham Potter. I fancy United to put in a good showing in this match but either way, there is value in one of the player markets.
A lot of tipsters have noticed that new signing Antony likes a shot. The former-Ajax man isn’t scared to take an effort from range. He’s averaged 4.4 shots/90 in the Premier League this season.
This Chelsea defence has kept plenty of clean sheets in recent weeks but the Blues are still allowing shots. At least one player has had at least three shots in each of Chelsea’s last three Premier League matches. Ivan Toney has four in midweek and three Aston Villa players had at least three attempts on goal in the match before then. Antony looks great value to do the same here.
- Selection: Antony over 2.5 Shots (TRACKED BET)
- Best Odds: 3.00 (bet365)
- Stakes: 5/10
Southampton vs Arsenal Preview
Sunday, October 23rd, 14:00 (UK)
Southampton host high-flying Arsenal as the Saints aim to build on their result in midweek. Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side racked up their first Premier League win since August in midweek. The 1-0 victory over Bournemouth was the Saints’ first clean sheet in the Premier League since April. The last time Arsenal travelled to the South Coast.
That’s because the Gunners have struggled at St. Mary’s in recent years. Southampton have become Arsenal’s bogey team, especially when they host the Gunners. Southampton have only lost four of their last 13 home matches against Arsenal in all competitions. That run includes five victories for the hosts. Arsenal should approach this match with trepidation.
Southampton vs Arsenal Best Bet
That’s why I’m expecting the Saints to impress here. Admittedly, Arsenal have dramatically improved this season. The Gunners have raced out of the blacks to the Premier League summit. 10 wins in 11 games is no mean feat but there are some troubling signs of late. They were more than fortunate to get the win at Leeds in a match the home side dominated. The Gunners have looked fatigued and key man Bukayo Saka is a doubt for this one.
That’s why I’m backing the Saints in the Asian handicap market. This recent record against the Gunners is no fluke. They’ll take confidence from it and up their performance as a result. This will be a test for the Gunners but even if they win it by one, this bet holds.
- Selection: Southampton +1 Asian Handicap (TRACKED BET)
- Best Odds: 1.93 (bet365)
- Stakes: 7/10

Tottenham vs Newcastle Preview
Sunday, October 23rd, 16:30 (UK)
Tottenham host Newcastle eager to undo a disappointing couple of weeks. Spurs have hit a road bump for the first time since Antonio Conte guided them back to the Champions League. Defeats to Arsenal and Manchester United sandwiched a couple of much-needed victories over Brighton and Everton.
The issue for many supporters has been the style of play. Spurs have soaked pressure up and not scored too many goals. That’s been fine in some games on the road but it’s made for grim viewing at times. Four goals scored in four games in October will raise eyebrows for a team containing Harry Kane and Heung-Min Son.
The same could be said of Newcastle at times this season. They’ve lost just one match in what has been a successful season far. Still, six draws from 11 suggest that the Magpies could reach another level with a few tweaks.
Tottenham vs Newcastle Best Bet
These two sides have scored just three goals between them in their last four matches combined. So it may be a surprise that I’m going over the goal line for this one.
History backs me up. This fixture is often a high-scoring one with a total of 11 goals scored in the two matches they played last season. Both teams have scored in each of their last five Premier League meetings. Recent form has affected a goal line that history suggests should be a fair bit higher.
- Selection: Over 2.5 Goals (TRACKED BET)
- Best Odds: 1.91 (10Bet)
- Stakes: 8/10

West Ham vs Bournemouth Preview
Monday, October 24th, 20:00 (UK)
The Premier League matchday and these best bets conclude with West Ham vs Bournemouth on Monday night. It’s a big match for both sides with just two points separating them in the table.
A couple of unfortunate results have affected the perception of what has been a promising month for West Ham United. The 1-1 draw at Southampton certainly should’ve meant three points given some refereeing errors and missed chances. A missed penalty at Anfield in midweek also cost them an eye-catching result.
Bournemouth have gone from strength to strength. Defeat at home to Southampton in midweek was their first in the Premier League since Scott Parker left the club in August. There are growing calls for Gary O’Neil to earn the permanent managerial role for the Cherries but right now, the Englishman is happy.
West Ham vs Bournemouth Best Bet
The Hammers are the odds-on favourites to win this match and with good reason. Their performances have been steadily improving in recent weeks and results will catch up soon. Starting here.
Odds of around 1.57 aren’t enough for a best bet so I’m adding another element. Nine of West Ham’s 11 Premier League matches this season have finished with under 2.5 goals. The 3-1 win over Fulham a few weeks back was the highest-scoring league match the Hammers have been involved in this campaign.
Bournemouth’s figures look high on paper but five of the seven games interim coach Gary O’Neil has overseen have finished with under 3.5 goals. That’s the line I’m taking here to bring the odds above evens.
- Selection: West Ham Win and Under 4 Total Goals (TRACKED BET)
- Best Odds: 2.10 (bet365)
- Stakes: 7/10
Best odds available as at 16:00 on 21st October 2022. Odds may now differ.
