Premier League Best Bets: February 3rd-5th

We’re back with more Premier League best bets after a short interval for the FA Cup. All 20 teams are in action over the three days with the first of 10 matches kicking off on Friday evening. Just the three Premier League best bets this weekend but Chelsea vs Fulham is where we kick things off.

In this article:

Chelsea vs Fulham Preview

Friday, February 3rd, 20:00 (UK)

There is plenty of intrigue around this one as a new-look Chelsea side prepare to take on Fulham. The Blues spent more in the January transfer window than every club in the other big four European leagues combined. When – if ever – will these new signings gel and start working for an under-pressure Graham Potter?

Fulham are the first team to test their luck. It’s four wins from six for the Cottagers after the conclusion of the World Cup. One of those wins came against Chelsea the reverse fixture just a few weeks back. A repeat of that would be Fulham’s first ever domestic double over Chelsea.

Chelsea vs Fulham Best Bet

I’m looking at the goals line here for a bet that would signal an end to a few recent trends. Both teams were involved in some high-scoring matches earlier in the season but the goals have dried up of late. Fulham, in particular, have turned things around. 13 of their first 15 Premier League matches this season saw over 2.5 goals. Just three of their six since the World Cup have seen the same stat.

Only one of Chelsea’s last eight have seen both teams score so why back the overs here? I’m looking at the data. Chelsea’s six league matches since the World Cup have seen a total of nine goals. Looking at the xG, that should have been around 16. These things even out and our resident robotic expert, BETSiE puts the expected number of goals in this game at 3.05, well over the bookies’ line. That’s good enough for me to get behind.

  • Selection: Over 2.5 Goals (TRACKED BET)
  • Best Odds: 1.92 (SBK)
  • Stakes: 7/10

Wolves vs Liverpool Preview

Saturday, February 4th, 15:00 (UK)

It’s an intriguing match between two sides travelling in different directions. Wolves are on the up. Manager Julen Lopetegui has only lost two of his five matches since taking over – they came against the two Manchester sides. They’ve secured wins against fellow strugglers Everton and West Ham in that time.

They now face a Liverpool side that hasn’t won for three games and gone two consecutive Premier League matches without scoring for the first time in almost two years. Away form is the problem for Jurgen Klopp’s men. Two wins from nine on the road isn’t good enough for a side chasing Champions League qualification.

Wolves vs Liverpool Best Bet

That all explains why Liverpool are only the slight favourites here. It’s rare for Jurgen Klopp’s Reds to only have a -0.5 Asian handicap when playing a Premier League side sat in 17th.

All streaks end and much like the first bet, the data is on my side. The xG paints a different picture to the recent results. Wolves have conceded 3.18 xGA in their last two home matches but only conceded once. Liverpool are underperforming their expected goals for and against in their away matches since the break. This match has also got the BETSiE seal of approval which all adds up to betting value.

  • Selection: Liverpool to Win
  • Best Odds: 1.91 (Betway)
  • Stakes: 8/10

Nottingham Forest vs Leeds Preview

Sunday, February 5th, 14:00 (UK)

Nottingham Forest vs Leeds pits two potential relegation battlers against each other. Forest are the side in form with things finally clicking for Steve Cooper’s men. They’ve only lost twice in their last 10 Premier League matches – they came against Arsenal and Manchester United. Forest have taken points off Liverpool, Chelsea and Brighton in that time.

They now face a Leeds side that hasn’t won a Premier League match since before the World Cup. They haven’t lost too many either – three draws from four isn’t a woeful run given the fixtures but things need to improve if Jesse Marsch is to keep his side clear of the relegation zone. Injuries to Rodrigo and Crysencio Summerville leave them a little short up front.

Nottingham Forest vs Leeds Best Bet

I’m expecting an open game at the City Ground. Forest look good value to get a decent result here. They’re usually a good bet at home in the Asian handicap line. It sits at +0 for this match so I’m taking the draw no bet. It’s the same selection but has slightly better odds with the bookies.

  • Selection: Nottingham Forest Draw no Bet (TRACKED BET)
  • Best Odds: 1.91 (SBK)
  • Stakes: 7/10

Best odds available as at 14:30 on 3rd February 2023. Odds may now differ.
