Chelsea vs Luton: Pochettino’s side set to dominate the Premier League new boys

England, Premier League, Friday, August 25th, 20:00 (UK)

Chelsea are still searching for their first win of the season heading into match day three. They have made plenty of signings in the post-Roman Abramovich era, but knitting the squad together has proven to be a difficult task. Mauricio Pochettino boasts a CV that suggests he is the man for the job, but patience is required.

They take on a Luton side that have lost their only match. Brighton outclassed them in the opening week as they lost 4-1. Their scheduled game against Burnley was postponed due to ground redevelopments.

Pochettino’s men should dominate proceedings here. They have the quality to keep possession, which should mean the ball goes out of play on fewer occasions. Their league matches so far have seen 31 and 34 throws, both below the line set on bet365 for this match.

Luton’s matches in the Championship saw plenty of throws, but that trend didn’t continue in their first Premier League match. There were just 27 throws, and Brighton kept 71% of the ball. This game should play out similarly.

  • Selection: Under 36.5 Throws In The Match (TRACKED BET)
  • Best Odds: 1.90
  • Bookmaker: bet365
  • Stake: 6/10

Bournemouth vs Tottenham: Bournemouth’s opponents are busy in the tackle

England, Premier League, Saturday, August 26th, 12:30 (UK)

Bournemouth were beaten at Anfield last weekend and have picked up one point after two games. Andoni Iraola is looking to bring his high-pressing game to Bournemouth, but they also have a difficult run of games to contend with.

Tottenham beat Manchester United 2-0 last weekend. They could have easily fallen behind in the first half, but Ange Postecoglou’s men rallied against a lacklustre United side in the second half. It’s still early days under the new manager, but Spurs have displayed real attacking impetus in the first couple of matches.

Spurs have engaged their opponents further up the pitch under Ange. He wants his teams to have more control than the Tottenham teams of recent years. They had 16 tackles in their away match against Brentford, but this Cherries’ side looks set to force a heap of tackles.

Bournemouth’s last ten competitive home matches have seen their opponents average 20.3 tackles per game. Their home match against West Ham on the season’s opening weekend saw the Hammers make 30 tackles.

  • Selection: Over 17.5 Tackles For Tottenham (TRACKED BET)
  • Best Odds: 1.83
  • Bookmaker: bet365
  • Stake: 6/10

Everton vs Wolves: The Toffees to pile on the pressure in pursuit of a goal

England, Premier League, Saturday, August 26th, 15:00 (UK)

Everton have lost their opening two matches of the season and could be set for another battle against relegation if things don’t pick up soon. The lack of goals in the team remains a big problem for Sean Dyche. They were comprehensively beaten by Aston Villa last weekend and are still awaiting their first goal of the campaign.

Like Everton, Wolves have also failed to pick up any points in their opening two matches. Gary O’Neil took over from Julen Lopetegui on the eve of the season, so preparations were far from ideal. They lost 4-1 to Brighton last weekend, and Matheus Nunes was sent off.

The Toffees had 19 shots in their only game at Goodison Park so far this season. The lack of a clinical forward proved costly, but they were still able to create a wealth of opportunities. They also had 19 shots the last time they played Wolves.

Wolves have conceded an average of 17.10 shots per game across their last ten away matches in the Premier League. This bet has landed in both of their fixtures this season.

  • Selection: Over 14.5 Shots For Everton (TRACKED BET)
  • Best Odds: 1.90
  • Bookmaker: bet365
  • Stake: 7/10

Brighton vs West Ham: West Ham’s wide threat to aid throw count

England, Premier League, Saturday, August 26th, 17:30 (UK)

Brighton have been electric in the opening two matches of the season. They have won both of their matches so far 4-1 and have an abundance of attacking options to call upon. Roberto De Zerbi’s side look set to build on last season’s success despite some high-profile losses in the summer.

West Ham have also made a strong start. They beat Chelsea 3-1 last weekend, and their ability to hold on after being reduced to 10 men will have been a real boost. They must be at their best to get a result at the Amex Arena.

David Moyes’ will want to disrupt Brighton’s rhythm, and they will be combative in the wide areas. The Hammers’ last ten away matches in the Premier League have seen an average of 38.35 throws per game.

Brighton’s matches haven’t seen a great deal of throws under De Zerbi, but there were 36 when West Ham faced his side at this ground last season. The previous five meetings between these sides have seen West Ham average 19.5 throws.

  • Selection: Over 16.5 Throws For West Ham (TRACKED BET)
  • Best Odds: 1.83
  • Bookmaker: bet365
  • Stake: 7/10

Sheffield United vs Manchester City: City control means throws trend is set to continue

England, Premier League, Sunday, August 27th, 14:00 (UK)

Sheffield United have been busy in the transfer window in recent weeks, but they have made a poor start to the Premier League campaign. The Blades have lost their first two matches, and many see them as the favourites for the drop.

Manchester City earned a hard-fought victory over Newcastle last weekend and are yet to concede in the Premier League. Pep Guardiola’s side are looking to fly out of the blocks and put the pressure on their title rivals.

Sheffield United faced Manchester City in the FA Cup last season. They were beaten 3-0, and there were only 19 throws in the match. There were 28 throws when these sides last met in the Premier League.

Pep Guardiola’s side matches’ saw the fewest throws in the Premier League last season, with an average of 29.03 per game. This is well below the league average of 37.95. City favours a patient approach and to swiftly moving the ball around to probe the opposition defence. The build-up of pressure is vital for their approach, so the ball seldom goes out of play.

  • Selection: Under 33.5 Throws In The Match (TRACKED BET)
  • Best Odds: 1.90
  • Bookmaker: bet365
  • Stake: 9/10

Newcastle vs Liverpool: End-to-end match should mean plenty of goal kicks

England, Premier League, Sunday, August 27th, 16:30 (UK)

Newcastle welcome Liverpool to St. James’s Park in our final match. Eddie Howe’s team put in a spirited display at the Etihad last weekend. They won their only home game so far 5-1 and will be looking to end their torrid run against Liverpool on Sunday.

Liverpool beat Bournemouth last weekend after drawing with Chelsea in their first match. Klopp is again trying to establish his team as title contenders after rebuilding the squad over the recent transfer windows.

Newcastle will get more opportunities to attack than they did against Manchester City. Their last five matches against Liverpool have seen an average of 16.4 goal kicks. This bet landed in all five of those matches. They had 11.6 per game, while Liverpool had 4.8. The numbers should be far more equal now that both teams compete near the top of the league.

The Reds’ matches so far this season have been feasts of attacking football. This has inevitably led to a good number of goal kicks. There were 20 in their match against Bournemouth and 16 against Chelsea. Liverpool’s last 10 Premier League games have seen an average of 14.6 goal kicks.

  • Selection: Over 13.5 Goal Kicks In The Match (TRACKED BET)
  • Best Odds: 1.80
  • Bookmaker: bet365
  • Stake: 8/10
