Burnley vs Luton has been rescheduled for Friday night, so the Premier League weekend kicks off with a crucial clash at the bottom. Burnley have been poor in the first half of the season, and they could be marooned in the relegation zone if they succumb to another defeat here.
Luton have been the best-performing newly-promoted side. They can climb above Everton and out of the relegation zone with a win here. Rob Edwards’ side have shown plenty of character in recent weeks and put in solid displays against the likes of Manchester City, Arsenal and Chelsea in December.
These sides will go at it hammer and tongs in pursuit of all three points, so we are hoping the frantic nature of the clash leads to throws. There were 50 throws when these sides met earlier in the season. Burnley’s three home matches against sides in the bottom half have seen an average of 41 per match.
Luton’s matches are averaging the 3rd most throws in the Premier League. Their away matches against teams who are in the lower half of the league have seen a whopping average of 47.75 throws per game.

It’s been a season to forget for Mauricio Pochettino so far. He is struggling to get a tune out of his Chelsea squad after six months in charge, but he has had to contend with a wealth of injuries. The Blues were beaten in the first leg of their League Cup semi-final midweek and will be looking to bounce back against Fulham.
Fulham came from behind to beat Arsenal last weekend. They have climbed to 13th in the Premier League, nine points above the drop zone. They have struggled for consistency this season, but Marco Silva will be happy with the way his team have performed, especially with the loss of Aleksandr Mitrovic in the summer.
Chelsea have struggled without a focal point in attack, but they have been able to sustain pressure in attack and force goal kicks. Middlesbrough alone had 19 goal kicks in the Blues last match. Chelsea’s home league matches this season have seen an average of 13.8 goal kicks per game.
Fulham’s encounter with Chelsea earlier this season finished with 14 goal kicks. This bet also won when they travelled to Stamford Bridge last season. That game ended with 15 goal kicks.

Newcastle could drop into the bottom half if they are beaten by Manchester City. Eddie Howe’s side have struggled of late, picking up just two wins in their last nine matches in all competitions. They suffered just their second home defeat in the league this season on Boxing Day and will be keen to put on a stronger display for the home support here.
Manchester City have bounced back from the poor run of form that saw them slip outside the top four at the start of December. They are unbeaten in their last eight matches across all competitions and have won seven of those. Guardiola’s side are now five points behind the league leaders but have a game in hand on those around them.
The recent league meetings between these sides have seen very few tackles, so the line is set low here. However, I’m happy to bet on over 28.5 in the match, given how Manchester City’s trip to St. James’s Park in the League Cup went. There were 40 tackles in that match, and I expect the Magpies to get stuck in here. Newcastle’s home matches in the Premier League this season are averaging 33.7 tackles per game, and this bet has landed in nine of those ten games.
Manchester City’s away matches have seen an average of 31.2 tackles per game. There have been 29 or more in six of their last seven visits to this ground.

Everton have floundered in their recent matches. They could be in the relegation zone by the time this one kicks off, but that’s due to their 10-point deduction. The Toffees have gone five competitive matches without a win since their four-game winning run in December.
Aston Villa can go level on points with Liverpool by picking up all three points here. They edged past Burnley 3-2 in their last league match at Villa Park. However, their away form has let them down slightly. They have four wins in 10 league matches on the road.
The Toffees’ matches this season are averaging 15.75 goal kicks per game, the third most in the division. That average increases to 17.3 at Goodison Park, so we should see a few here. There have been 14 goal kicks or more in nine of their ten matches in front of their own fans. Sean Dyche will be looking for a response here, and his direct approach lends itself nicely to forcing goal kicks.
Villa are more patient in their approach and this is reflected in the lower goal-kick numbers in their fixtures. However, they have hosted Everton twice already this season, and there have been 17 and 14 goal kicks. Since Villa returned to the top flight, their visits to Goodison Park have seen 25, 18, 18 and 16 goal kicks.

Manchester United have the opportunity to cut the gap to Tottenham to five points here. Nottingham Forest beat Erik Ten Hag’s side in their last Premier League match, and they will need to improve drastically in the second half of the season if they are to secure Champions League football.
Tottenham sit once point off Arsenal, who currently occupy 4th place. Ange Psotecogou has done remarkably well since taking charge. He has instilled a clear identity and raised spirits at the club following the departure of Harry Kane. They’ve already beaten United once this season and will be looking for a repeat performance here.
The Red Devils have lacked defensive structure this season, and their matches have seen plenty of shots as a result. Their matches average 29.2 attempts per game. That’s the 3rd most in the league but slightly lower than the required mark. Nevertheless, this looks like a good bet, thanks to the stats in the recent head-to-heads. There were 39 shots when these sides clashed earlier in the season. Their last three meetings have seen an average of 37 shots, with this bet winning in all three.
Spurs’ matches are averaging the 2nd most shots in the league with an average of 30.25. Their most recent away match against Brighton ended with 34 shots.
