Luton vs Nottingham Forest: Battle at the Bottom

England, Premier League, Saturday, 16th  March, 15:00 (UK)

Luton let a three-goal lead slip at Bournemouth midweek. They need to dust themselves off quickly, with Nottingham Forest coming to Kenilworth Road this weekend. This is another opportunity for Rob Edwards’ side to break out of the relegation zone. They have dropped a good amount of points from winning positions this season so this one will be a huge test of character.

Nottingham Forest rolled the dice by replacing Steve Cooper with Nuno Espirito Santo. Things improved in the early stages of his tenure, but they have had just one win in their last 13 matches across all competitions.

This should be a thoroughly entertaining clash, with both teams fighting for a crucial three points. The Hatters have played nine matches in 2024 and those have seen an average of 29.77 shots. This increases to 31.33 if we only include their Premier League games. There have been 28 or more shots in four of their last five.

Forest matches have seen fewer shots, but they need to chase a win here. There were 32 shots in the match when the sides drew 2-2 at the City Ground earlier this season.

Burnley vs Brentford: Now or Never For Kompany’s Men

England, Premier League, Saturday, 16th  March, 15:00 (UK)

Burnley looks dead and buried with ten games to play. They won the Championship last season but the optimism that brought had dissipated as this campaign has gone on. Vincent Kompany’s side find themselves 10 points from safety so it would take a miraculous run for them to avoid returning to the second tier.

Brentford have also suffered this season. There has been no upturn in form since the return of Ivan Toney and they are in danger of getting dragged into the relegation battle. The Bees are five points clear of the bottom three but they did manage to beat Burnley 3-0 earlier in the season.

The Clarets had 20 shots in their last match at Turf Moor. We can back them to have over 12.5 shots at 2.00 in this one. They are averaging 12.57 shots per home game in the Premier League at this stage of the season and we are at the stage of the season where they must take risks.

Brentford are conceding 15.36 shots per away game this season. The numbers have increased even further in their away matches in 2024. Since the turn of the year, they have conceded at least 17 shots in all five of their matches on the road.

  • Selection: Over 12.5 Shots For Burnley (TRACKED BET)
  • Best Odds: 2.00
  • Bookmaker: bet365
  • Stake: 8/10

Fulham vs Tottenham: Silva’s Defence Will be Busy

England, Premier League, Saturday, 16th  March, 17:30 (UK)

Fulham were beaten 2-1 by Wolves last weekend. Marco Silva’s side are sitting comfortably in midtable and have 11 points worth of breathing space between themselves and the drop. They managed to beat Brighton 3-0 in their last home match.

Ange Postecoglou’s side can make a top-four spot their own in the coming weeks. They are two points behind Aston Villa with a game in hand. Tottenham are unbeaten in their last 11 matches against Fulham and have nine of those. However, they will be aware of the threat that the home side pose.

The home side’s tackle numbers are around the league average, with 17.54 per match, but they have increased in recent weeks. Fulham made 21 tackles in their last match against Wolves. They made 24 tackles in their most recent game at Crave Cottage.

Tottenham matches have seen the second most tackles in the Premier League with an average of 40.19 tackles per game. 20.0.7 of those tackles have been made by the opposition. Ange’s side attempts the 4th most dribbles in the league so the high tackle numbers against them don’t come as a surprise.

  • Selection: Over 18.5 Tackles For Fulham (TRACKED BET)
  • Best Odds: 1.72
  • Bookmaker: bet365
  • Stake: 7/10

West Ham vs Aston Villa: Hammers’ Trend Continues

England, Premier League, Sunday, 17th March, 14:00 (UK)

West Ham drew to Burnley on home turf last weekend, and fatigue could be a factor here after their clash with Freiburg. The Hammers are still in with a chance of qualifying for Europe through their league position but they have plenty of ground to make up.

Aston Villa lost 4-0 to Tottenham last weekend. John McGinn was sent off in that match so he cannot feature here. Unai Emery’s side are unbeaten in their previous seven away matches across all competitions. They beat West Ham 4-1 in the reverse fixture and will hope to bounce back from the Spurs defeat here, as Ollie Watkins and Jarrod Bowen, two English goalscorers in form, feature for their respective clubs.

PL Top Goalscorers - bettingexpert

The Hammers’ recent matches have seen plenty of shots, so we are backing at least 26 in the match here. There were 33 in their last game against Burnley. In fact, there have been 29 shots or more in their last five matches across all competitions.

The Villains’ matches are hit or miss in terms of shots. Nonetheless, this bet has won in their last two away matches in the Premier League. There were 29 shots when they took on West Ham earlier this season and 29 the last time they visited the London Stadium.

  • Selection: Over 25.5 Shots In The Match (TRACKED BET)
  • Best Odds: 1.83
  • Bookmaker: bet365
  • Stake: 8/10

Manchester United vs Liverpool: United under Siege

England, FA Cup, Sunday, 17th March, 15:30 (UK)

Manchester United take on their great rivals at Old Trafford on Sunday. This is a chance for Erik Ten Hag’s to end Liverpool’s quadruple hopes but the level of performance will have to improve drastically if they are to get the better of Klopp’s men. United beat Everton 2-0 in their last match but afforded Sean Dyche’s side plenty of opportunities to score.

Liverpool are in Europa League action midweek, but fatigue won’t be an issue. Klopp is able to make wholesale changes to his starting eleven with their place in the next round all but secured. The Reds dominated proceedings when they last faced United but were unable to break the deadlock as the game finished 0-0.

Manchester United had 17 goal kicks when they beat Everton. Ten Hag’s side have been far too open defensively of late so they’ve had 10 or more goal kicks in their last seven matches. The Red Devils had 19 goal kicks when they last faced Liverpool and 16 the last time they faced them at Old Trafford.

Klopp’s side forced 11 goal kicks from Manchester City last weekend. They will have far more of the ball against United and should get the opportunity to let the shots fly. Liverpool’s opponents had 10 goal kicks or more in their four matches prior to the return leg against Sparta Prague.

  • Selection: Over 9.5 Man United Goal Kicks In The Match (TRACKED BET)
  • Best Odds: 2.00
  • Bookmaker: bet365
  • Stake: 8/10
