Scott Thornton is back with his Premier League props acca as we dive into this week’s action in England’s top flight. We have a reduced fixture list with the FA Cup semi-finals taking place but there is still plenty to get stuck into.
On Saturday, we have Sheffield United vs Burnley kicking things off. Later that day, Arsenal are looking to get their title charge back on track. Sunday sees Everton host Nottingham Forest in a crucial clash. The sides that were in action on Thursday night play after that with Aston Villa vs Bournemouth, Crystal Palace vs West Ham and Fulham vs Liverpool to look forward to.
Acca odds: 31.18
England, Premier League, Saturday, 20th April, 15:00 (UK)
We kick things off with Sheffield United vs Burnley in what is a must-win fixture for both sides. The Blades are four points behind Saturday’s opponents, who are just one place above them in the Premier League. Sheffield United need a miracle if they are to stay up and that miracle must start with a win over the Clarets.
Burnley are six points from safety. The points deductions for Nottingham Forest and Everton have given them hope. Nevertheless, the team will be hugely disappointed with how the season has played out given the manner they were promoted last season.
Sheffield United have conceded the second most shots in the Premier League this season. They are conceding an average of 17.78 per game. Only Manchester United are allowing their opponents to have more attempts.
Vincent Kompany knows a win would give their chances of survival a huge boost so expect them to be on the front foot. They managed 19 shots against the Blades in the reverse fixture and while their shot numbers on the road have been poor, this is an exceptional circumstance.

Wolves have enjoyed a stellar season under Gary O’Neil. The former Bournemouth boss took over with the club in crisis but they are sitting pretty in 11th place coming into the weekend. Despite the positives, they are without a win in their last five matches.
Bayern Munich beat Arsenal at the Allianz Arena midweek. The defeat saw them dumped out of the Champions League and rounded off a miserable few days for Mikel Arteta. The Gunners are also on the back foot in the race for the title following last weekend’s defeat against Aston Villa. They cannot afford any more slip-ups here.
Gary O’Neil’s sides’ matches have seen the fifth most tackles in the division with an average of 37.33 per game. The line set by bet365 in this one is over 34.5 and that looks like a good bet given Wolves’ stats.
Arsenal matches have seen fewer tackles but there were 39 in their last Premier League match. They will be hungry to make amends after a poor week of results and will be keen to get stuck in here. This bet landed when these sides met at the Emirates earlier in the season.

Relegation rivals and the teams who have been hit hard by points deductions this season go toe-to-toe on Sunday. Everton are a point ahead of Nottingham Forest coming into this one. The Toffees were beaten 6-0 by Chelsea in their last match. There needs to be a response here or they will find themselves treading dangerously.
Forest are a point above the relegation zone but have a superior goal difference to Luton. They have posed more of a threat going forward since Nuno Espirito Santo was brought, but results have been mixed. They have won just one of their nine away games under the new boss.
Everton’s matches at Goodison Park in the Premier League this season have seen an average of 44.6 throws per game. The Toffees’ matches have seen the most throws in England’s top flight, and this high-stakes affair should see plenty. Their five home matches in 2024 have seen an average of 50.6 throws.
Since Forest were promoted, their three head-to-heads with Everton have seen 43 throws on average. Nottingham Forest’s matches are averaging one more throw than the Premier League average.

Aston Villa conquered Arsenal at the Emirates last weekend to ensure they did the double over the title contenders. The European results earlier in the week mean the Premier League is unlikely to be awarded an additional place in the Champions League, so Villa keeping their noses in front of Tottenham is of Paramount importance.
Bournemouth have amassed a tally of 42 points. They made a nightmare start to the season under Andoni Iraola but the persistence with the new boss has paid dividends. The team have played some excellent football since and are capable of getting a result here.
Unai Emery’s side are averaging 14.88 shots per Premier League home game. They are better known for fashioning an opening than trying their luck with a shot, but they should have more than their fair share of attempts here.
The Cherries’ away matches this season have seen a wealth of chances created, with an average of 30 shots per game. Iraola’s side have conceded an average of 16.47 in those matches. They have conceded 19 and 20 shots in their last two away matches against Luton and Burnley respectively. Bournemouth face a much tougher test this time around.

Crystal Palace secured a shock victory over Liverpool at Anfield last weekend. They created some great chances in the first half before defending resolutely for the remainder of the game. The win has moved them up to 14th in the table so relegation is a very unlikely prospect.
West Ham harbours ambitions of playing European football next season. They can move above Manchester United with a win this weekend but they’ll need to put a good run together to achieve their aim. David Moyes’ side suffered defeat at the hands of Fulham last weekend.
Since Oliver Glasner took over, Crystal Palace have played three home matches and managed 14 or more shots in two of those. The exception was the 4-2 defeat against Manchester City, who concede the fewest shots in the top flight.
The Hammers are conceding an average of 18.63 shots per Premier League away game this season. That’s the fourth worst in the division. They have conceded 14 or more shots in 13 of their last 14 away matches in the league.

Fulham confirmed their place in the Premier League next season last weekend by beating West Ham. Marco Silva’s men have established themselves in the top tier in recent seasons. However, they won;t want to be complacent as they look to finish this campaign on a high.
Liverpool are now two points behind Manchester City in the title race after last weekend’s loss. They can overtake them once again with Pep Guradiola’s side playing in the FA Cup semi-finals against Chelsea. Jurgen Klopp still has time to get his farewell season at the club back on track but they will need to win their six remaining matches.
Marco Silva’s sides’ matches are averaging 35.88 throws per game this season but their recent meetings with Liverpool have seen plenty of throws. The teams have already locked horns three times this season with them meeting in a two-legged tie in the League Cup semi-finals. Those three games saw an average of 45.67 throws and this bet won in all of them.
The Reds’ away matches in the league have seen an average of 39.2 throws. There was a whopping 57 throws the last time they headed to Craven Cottage for a Premier League match.
