Wolves vs Brighton: Brighton’s attack set to menace once again

England, Premier League, Saturday, August 19th, 15:00 (UK))

Wolves came away from Old Trafford feeling hard done by after their opening match. They were denied a penalty in the dying moments to give them to chance to earn a point. Gary O’Neil will have been pleased with his side’s performance, given he had just days to work with them before taking on Manchester United.

Brighton picked up where they left off last season by hammering Luton in their first game. Roberto De Zerbi has had to contend with some considerable losses in the transfer window, but the Seagull’s meticulous planning looks set to pay dividends once again.

Brighton had 22 shots the last time they took on Wolves. In their last two visits to the Molineux, they have had 19 and 17 attempts. Amazingly, the Seagulls averaged 16.13 shots per game last campaign; this is more than any other side.

Gary O’Neil was in charge of Bournemouth last season. They conceded the most shots per game in the Premier League, with the opposition averaging 16.47 per game. This bet landed in their previous match against United despite the excellent performance.

  •       Selection: Over 15.5 shots In The Match For Brighton (TRACKED BET)
  •       Best Odds: 1.83
  •       Bookmaker: bet365
  •       Stake: 8/10

Tottenham vs Manchester United: Long phases of possession means fewer throws

England, Premier League, Saturday, August 19th, 17:30 (UK))

Tottenham take on Manchester United on Saturday as they hunt for their first competitive win under Ange Postecoglou. Spurs played well in their 2-2 draw at Brentford. They controlled possession and created numerous chances despite it being their first game without the talismanic Harry Kane. However, they looked fragile in defence, which could be a reoccurring issue as Ange looks to alter how the team plays.

Manchester United beat Wolves last weekend, but the performance left much to be desired. They clung on in the dying moments and seldom looked in control. Erik Ten Hag has invested heavily in his squad, so improvement is expected.

There were just 29 throws in the 2-2 draw between these sides at the Tottenham Stadium last season. There were only 33 throws in their other meeting at Old Trafford. In fact, this bet has landed in five of the last six meetings between these sides.

There were 36 throws or less in both Tottenham’s and Manchester United’s opening matches of the Premier League season. Last season, Spurs’ matches saw an average of 34.53 throws per game, while United’s saw 35.95 on average.

  •       Selection: Under 36.5 Throws In The Match (TRACKED BET)
  •       Best Odds: 1.80
  •       Bookmaker: bet365
  •       Stake: 8/10

Manchester City vs Newcastle: Etihad to continue to see the fewest throws

England, Premier League, Saturday, August 19th, 20:00 (UK)

Saturday night’s match sees Manchester City welcome Newcastle to the Etihad. Pep Guardiola’s side captured the UEFA Super Cup midweek after a penalty shootout win over Sevilla. However, City are used to playing in Europe prior to league matches, so fatigue is unlikely to be an issue. The Citizens also won their opening league matches against Burnley. The only blemish on their season so far is the injury picked up by Kevin De Bruyne.

Newcastle made a flying start to the season by beating Aston Villa 5-1. Taking on Manchester City is a much more formidable task, but Eddie Howe’s men will have no fear after their exploits last season. The Geordies haven’t beaten City in nine head-to-heads, but times are changing on Tyneside.

Under 32.5 throws in this match looks like a good bet. It has landed in both of Manchester City’s games so far this season. Their meetings averaged just 29.3 throws last season. This number drops to 27.84 if we only consider matches at the Etihad.

This bet has landed in four of the last five meetings between these sides. Over this period, there have been 27 throws per match on average.

  •       Selection: Under 32.5 Throws In The Match (Tracked)
  •       Best Odds: 1.90
  •       Bookmaker: bet365
  •       Stake: 8/10

Aston Villa vs Everton: Both teams to get their shots away in the hunt for a first win

England, Premier League, Sunday, August 20th, 14:00 (UK)

Aston Villa were left stunned at St. James’s Park last weekend. After a successful transfer window, they came into the season full of optimism, but conceding five against Newcastle will give them some food for thought. Nevertheless, Unai Emery’s team look set to challenge for Europe once again this season. They will be looking to bounce back in their first home game against Everton.

Everton lost their opening game 1-0, and the issues that plighted them last season are set to remain. Financial constraints have shackled Sean Dyche. His Everton side are in desperate need of a goal scorer. This was showcased last weekend when they failed to find the net despite an abundance of chances.

Both of these teams’ opening matches saw plenty of shots. Everton’s match against Fulham saw 28 attempts. Villa’s tip to Newcastle saw 33 strikes overall. This bet also landed in both league matches between these sides last season. The game at Villa Park saw 27 attempts.

Since Sean Dyche took charge, Everton’s Premier League matches have seen an average of 27.11 shots per game.

  •       Selection: Over 23.5 Shots In The Match (TRACKED BET)
  •       Best Odds: 1.72
  •       Bookmaker: bet365
  •       Stake: 8/10

West Ham vs Chelsea:The Blues to show attacking impetus

England, Premier League, Sunday, August 20th, 16:30 (UK)

West Ham had to settle for a 1-1 draw against Bournemouth last weekend. They saw very little of the ball but looked dangerous on the break. David Moyes is in the process of rebuilding his squad after the departure of Declan Rice. A win over Chelsea could provide a real boost for the Hammers.

Chelsea earned a draw against Liverpool in Mauricio Pochettino’s first competitive match as the boss at Stamford Bridge. The Blues looked in danger of being hammered early on, but the team rallied and looked more likely to win by the time the final whistle was blown. The Blues have since signed Moises Caicedo, and it will be intriguing to see how he links up with Enzo Fernandes in midfield.

Pochettino will be keen for his side to show plenty of attacking intent here. They looked dangerous against Liverpool, and he has a wealth of talent at his disposal to hurt West Ham. They have had 17 or more shots in five of the last six away matches against the Hammers. Despite their woes last season, Chelsea still averaged 13.39 shots per game.

West Ham will have no qualms about letting Chelsea have the ball. This should help the visitors rack up the shots. Moyes’ team conceded 13.9 shots per game last season.

  •       Selection: Over 12.5 Shots For Chelsea (TRACKED BET)
  •       Best Odds: 1.94
  •       Bookmaker: Unibet
  •       Stake: 8/10

Crystal Palace vs Arsenal: Palace’s threat our wide to aid the throw count

England, Premier League, Monday, August 21st, 20:00 (UK)

Crystal Palace travelled to newly-promoted Sheffield United on match day one. The Eagles secured a 1-0 win as they dominated the match. Roy Hodgson is yet to lose at Selhurst Park during his second stint at the club. However, they won’t enjoy as much possession as last weekend when they face off against the Gunners.

Arsenal made a winning start to their Premier League campaign against Nottingham Forest. They had the lion’s share of possession and looked dangerous in the final third, but the injury to Jurien Timber would have dampened things for Mikel Arteta. The Gunners finished 2nd last season and are again gearing up for a title charge.

When Arsenal visited this ground last season, Crystal Palace had 25 of the 39 throws in the match. Hodgson’s side looked to exploit the space out wide with Arsenal’s full-backs inverting. This led to an increased number of throws for the home side.

The Eagles averaged 20.08 throws per game in the Premier League last season. They had 321 throws in their win over Sheffield United last weekend.

  •       Selection: Over 19.5 Throws For Crystal Palace (TRACKED BET)
  •       Best Odds: 1.83
  •       Bookmaker: bet365
  •       Stake: 7/10
