QPR vs Blackpool Bet Builder: Tuesday, August, 16th

Blackpool head to the capital in search of a result to stop the rot after three consecutive losses in all competitions. Televised and on Sky Sports, we’ve come up with a bet builder here at bettingexpert to accompany Tuesday night’s viewing. Josh Bowler, over to you.

QPR vs Blackpool Preview

Tuesday, August 16th, 20:00 (UK)

Sky Sports has lined up a Tuesday night encounter in the capital that should have tounges wagging at The Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium. In terms of the cold, hard outlook of results, you could say QPR’s initial steps into the current campaign have been indifferent. However, Michael Beale’s opening three matches would always be a testing trio.

Sunderland’s return to the Championship at the Stadium of Light (2-2), Chris Wilder’s Middlesborough imposing themselves at home (3-2 victory), and top of the league Blackburn for the curtain-raiser under new management (1-0 loss).

Blackpool’s position in 17th may best tell their story to date. An opening day triumph against a Reading side likely destined for the doldrums of the Championship in 2022/23 was followed up by three consecutive losses. The Seasiders slumped out of the EFL Cup at the hands of League Two outfit Barrow – a result sandwiched by two losses to Stoke and Swansea without as much as one goal in reply.

Although it’s early in the season, Neil Critchley’s absence may already be showing worrying signs within a squad that finished a mightily impressive 23-points away from relegation last term. Michael Appleton took over from the now Aston Villa assistant head coach after his shock departure in June, a change that has undoubtedly rocked the boat at Bloomfield Road this summer.

QPR vs Blackpool Stats & Facts

  • Seny Dieng is the first goalkeeper in QPR’s history to record a competitive goal for the club.
  • Dieng’s glancing header was the first goal to be scored by a goalkeeper in the Championship since December 2008. Adam Federici’s finish on Boxing Day for Reading was the last.
  • QPR come into the game against Blackpool on a nine-game unbeaten in the league.
  • Blackpool last beat QPR at Loftus Road 50 years ago.

QPR vs Blackpool Bet Builder

Despite results and the club’s potential trajectory, the bet builder’s first angle lands on a player donning orange on Tuesday evening. In the hope that Josh Bowler, a player Blackpool were lucky to hang onto in the summer, has his shooting boots packed and ready – the over 1.5 shots selection at 1.90 offers a handy way into the match.

Bowler started 30 of 43 appearances in the 2021/22 season, averaging 67 minutes per90. Despite managing just over an hour on the pitch, the 23-year-old still managed 1.7 shots per90. At the tail end of last season, in the games that Bowler started, he recorded: 3, 3, 5, 3 and 4 attempts to end the season.

This campaign, Bowler has continued similarly, something that will have shots-backers in a buoyant mood. In the opening three fixtures, Bowler has averaged 89-minutes per90, a nod towards his likely involvement from the off on Tuesday evening. Bowler has played on the right of a front three in those three matches when his side has possession, producing 5, 3, and 5 attempts at goal.

Interestingly, you would have to go back to the end of February to find a fixture where Josh Bowler has failed to hit two shots when in the starting eleven. That fixture was away from home vs QPR – not the best omen.

QPR double chance was my go-to pick to round off the bet builder. However, at 1.25, it’s a bit too short for my liking. The 1.53 for QPR to win either half takes on more risk, but it’s one that has legs. For QPR, it has come to fruition in their last two Championship outings, whilst Blackpool’s opponents have also paid out punters vs Swansea and Blackpool.

To highlight QPR’s dominance in this fixture in the modern era; the Hoops’ most recent loss in the league to Blackpool? 15 years ago. The last time QPR fell to defeat against Blackpool at Loftus Road? 50 years ago.

  • Josh Bowler O1.5 Shots
  • QPR to Win Either Half

Bet Builder odds: 2.80
