Real Sociedad vs Atletico Madrid Prediction 1: End Of Season Goal Fest

Another tremendous La Liga season has come to an abrupt end. These two sides have endured respectable campaigns. Atletico will finish the season in 4th. One place lower than last term. Sociedad will end the campaign in 6th, two places lower than the previous year. Typically, we see a higher number of goals on the final day. There’s nothing to play for, either. The season is over for these two. Let’s hope we see an entertaining affair with the pressure completely off. 

I wouldn’t like to call a winner. Sociedad have won just eight of 18 matches at San Sebastian. Diego Simeone’s men have picked up 24 points on their travels, winning just seven times.

Interestingly, these clubs met in this fixture on the final day of the 21/22 season. Atletico won 2-1 that night. A similar scoreline would be excellent. 

I’m backing goals here. The season averages are against us. Just 33% of matches here have seen three or more goals. Atletico’s away days have a 44% win rate. 

There’s more than enough quality amongst both sides in attacking areas. Let’s hope they come out on top.

Antoine Griezmann is one of the players you cannot hate. He’s been sublime for over a decade and is a joy to watch. The Frenchman has bagged more goals than any other Atleti player this season. He’s also recorded the most assists. 

The number 7 has been a regular under Simeone this term. The former Real Sociedad man has started 30 times in 23/24, featuring off the bench on two occasions. AG7 has managed 0.56 goals and 0.21 assists per 90 in La Liga this season. 

Griezmann has managed at least two shots in 22 separate starts in Spain this season. He recorded four in the reverse fixture as he found the back of the net. His SOT statistics are respectable. Atletico’s superstar has recorded at least one in 20 separate starts. 

Our man is the best player on the pitch. He’s the most likely to produce a piece of magic. There’s no doubting his quality. I expect him to end the season on a high. Griezmann will have many opportunities to pull the trigger at Reale Arena.

The price that Unibet is offering looks massive. I don’t expect that to be anywhere close to that price come kick-off. Alternatively, bet365’s Over 1.5 Shots & Over 0.5 SOT is a strong alternative. That’s priced at 1.80.

La Real have scored 26 times in 18 matches here this term. They’ve bagged 13 times in each half across La Liga this season. Imanol Alguacil’s side have found the back of the net inside the opening 45 minutes in 56% of matches.

Atletico haven’t been watertight at the back. They’re far from what they once were. Simeone’s men have shipped 21 goals on their travels this term. The visitors have conceded 11 times before the half-time interval when playing away from the Metropolitano.

The hosts will want to go out on a high. Sociedad can play with freedom and knows this encounter has no real meaning.

Real Sociedad will be without Aihen Munoz (Cruciate Ligament Injury) and Igor Zubeldia (Muscle Injury), whilst Martin Zubimendi is a doubt. The trio have featured 81 times between them this season.
