Bolton vs Barnsley Preview

England, League One, Saturday, May 13th, 15:00 (UK)

Bolton had already secured their playoff spot ahead of the final round of League One fixtures last weekend. Ian Evatt saw his side take positive momentum into this fixture after edging a final day five-goal thriller against Bristol Rovers at the Memorial Stadium. However, the opening goal could prove a costly one. Defender Gethin Jones is now ruled out for what is left of the season with a hamstring tear suffered in setting up Shola Shoretire. With the rest of the squad having a clean bill of health Wanderers will be looking to take an advantage into the second leg.

Barnsley ended their regular season campaign with a home defeat to Peterborough. Posh claimed the final playoff spot as a result. The main concern for Michael Duff ahead of this tie is the absence of influential captain Mads Andersen. Having been nominated in the EFL League One Team of the Season, the defender would be a big miss here. As he was in the final two fixtures which saw the Tykes ship six goals in his absence.

Bolton vs Barnsley Best Bet

First legs tend to be tight and cagy affairs and this clash at the University of Bolton Stadium is expected to follow suit. With only four points separating the two sides after 46 games. As they were drawn together in the FA Cup also this will be the fourth meeting of the season with each outcome having already occurred. The most recent going in favour of Bolton however, running out 3-0 winners at Oakwell in January. Only the top three lost fewer games at home than Wanderers. Barnsley will be happy to take them back to Yorkshire all square or even with a single-goal deficit. Especially considering Bolton are undefeated in 13 of their last 14 matches against Barnsley in all competitions.

  • Selection: Bolton -0.25 Asian Handicap
  • Best Odds: 2.10 (bet365)
  • Stakes: 6/10

Sunderland vs Luton Preview

England, Championship, Saturday, May 13th, 17:30 (UK)

Generally one side sneaks up on the outside and crashes the playoff party at the final hour. It was Sunderland’s turn this season. An impressive 3-0 victory at Preston was not enough in its own right to secure the much coveted 6th position. Results needed to go their way elsewhere. Go their way they did with Tony Mowbray’s former club Blackburn completing a comeback from 3-1 down to win a seven-goal thriller at Millwall. As a consequence, the Black Cats secured their spot in the post-season fixtures on goal difference ahead of Rovers.

Rob Edwards had the luxury of making eight changes ahead of his side’s final game of the Championship season. Luton’s manager confessed the game was about resting key players and giving minutes to those fringe players who may have a vital part to play in the coming weeks. With 3rd place secured, the goalless draw with Hull had little implication on the remaining games ahead. Although it did extend the Hatters’ impressive unbeaten run to 14 league games.

Sunderland vs Luton Best Bet

An interesting dynamic to this match up sees last season’s League One playoff winners take on losing semi-finalists at this level from a year ago. Sunderland also bring an impressive unbeaten run of nine games to this clash. Although they have drawn four of their last five home games. The last four meetings between these two sides have also ended in stalemate. With a final score of 1-1 on each occasion. Half of Luton’s 12-game unbeaten away run have been draws with five of those six also finishing with a goal apiece. All of this makes both teams to score here a very attractive price.

  • Selection: Yes to Both Teams to Score
  • Best Odds: 1.95 (888sport)
  • Stakes: 7/10

Salford vs Stockport Preview

England, League Two, Saturday, May 13th, 19:45 (UK)

On paper, League Two looks the toughest of all the playoff conundrums. Just four points separated all four clubs who will be aiming to reach the English 3rd tier via a day out at Wembley.

An 84th-minute Cheye Alexander penalty set Salford nerves jangling and meant a final-day defeat at home to Gillingham. A result which meant the Ammies had lost control of their own destiny. A 97th-minute Mansfield goal at Colchester increased the tension. But with no further action there Neil Wood’s side clung on to the final spot by the tightest of margins. Courtesy of a better goal difference of just one.

Stockport head to the playoffs having still had an outside chance of automatic promotion on the final day. Dave Challinor’s side needed a win at home to Hartlepool and for Northampton to fail to beat Tranmere. The Cobblers’ 1-0 win rendered the outcome at Edgeley Park irrelevant.

Salford vs Stockport Best Bet

Stockport were ante post title favourites in League Two and were expected to comfortably secure back-to-back promotions. A sluggish start made that an uphill battle and for periods reaching the playoffs even looked a tall order. However, suffering just one defeat in their last 20 league games saw the Hatters steadily climb the table. They will also go into this knockout stage of the season with confidence given their results against their three rivals. Unbeaten across those six tussles in contrast to that of Salford who lost four of the six meetings between those other playoff contenders. Including a 2-0 reverse at the hands of the visitors when these two sides last met at the Peninsula Stadium in October.

  • Selection: Stockport +0 Asian Handicap (TRACKED BET)
  • Best Odds: 1.85 (bet365)
  • Stakes: 7/10

WHAT IS A FOOTBALL ACCA?

A football acca is an accumulator bet, a type of bet that consists of several selections across different matches that are combined together into one single bet. An acca usually. consists of at least four selections but many more can be included. There will be odds for the single bet as a whole which is calculated by multiplying the odds of all of the selections. A football acca is one of the most popular ways to bet. This is the case because they can create potentially massive odds for a small stake. Many punters choose to create football accas which is what we have created here. If one of these selections loses then the football acca will lose. This type of bet needs every selection to win in order to succeed.
