In 15th and eight points away from the relegation-threatened double act of Genoa and an invigorated Salernitana, safety still hangs perilously in the balance. If the latter’s recent showings are anything to go by, Spezia, undoubtedly, can’t afford to rest on their laurels.

As it has been all season, if Thiago Motta avoids dropping back into Serie B, the season will be marked as a success. But first, all focus is on Lazio’s visit, another side with all to play for at the other end. The sky blue faction on Rome leads a four-team quartet eyeing the last two European places.

Similarly to Spezia, each game is as important as the last for Lazio. Both arrive amidst inconsistent streaks, albeit Spezia’s two wins in eleven showcase the struggle they find themselves in more so.

In another potentially season-defining fixture in France, two sides meet at opposite ends of the Ligue 1 standings. With four games left, third-placed Stade Rennes welcome a Saint-Étienne squad limping towards safety.

Although desperate for points, it’s difficult to see a result that keeps a sometimes-unstoppable Rennes at bay. Lorient found that out the hard way following last weekend’s clinical 5-0 thumping.

At 1.33 for the win, siding with the hosts will need a more creative approach to unearth any value.

Rennes’s home record has been head-turning of late, and it’s the primary reason I think we may get lucky with the proposed selection. The home side has won eight of their most-recent ten displays in front of adoring support. AS Monaco and OGC Nice are the teams to blame for scuppering an otherwise perfect ten-game stretch in Brittany.

Rennes have forced a lead going into the half-time break in all eight of those fixtures. With their first-half dominance evident, the First Half Asian Handicap market may be a wise route into the fixture. At 1.80 for Rennes -0.5, it’s one I’ll be taking.

Rennes’ 35 goals scored in the first half of matches this season is the highest in Ligue 1. At home specifically, the 1.12 scored in the initial 45 on average per match outperforms PSG’s 1.00 and Monaco and Strasbourg’s 0.94.
