Group H looks delicately poised as matchday two gets underway and we have South Korea v Ghana Bet Builder tips here at bettingexpert. It’s a crucial match for both sides after a tight couple of matches last week. Qualification is achievable for both but they’ve got to win here.
In this article:
World Cup Group H, Monday, November 28th, 13:00 (UK)
South Korea go up against Ghana in a game that could change the dynamics of Group H. South Korea picked up a point against Uruguay in their opening game while Ghana, despite their spirited performance, lost narrowly to group favourites Portugal.
The Taegeuk Warriors have a system built on solid defence and that came to the fore against Uruguay. One would expect them to stick with the same style against the Ghanaians on Monday.
This is their 10th consecutive World Cup and they have appeared at the finals more than any other Asian side. Ghana were close to reaching the semis in 2010 until they missed out to Uruguay.
With the performance they put up against Portugal, Ghana have yet another great chance to progress from the group. A win against the South Koreans will further boost their chances with respect to the other group game between Portugal and Uruguay.
They have met in friendly games all these while and it’s the Africans who have had the upper hand, winning the last one back in 2014 4-0. Jordan Ayew, who scored a hat trick on that day, is still part of the Black Stars squad.
To be fair, both sides look balanced at this World Cup, and equal and it is not surprising that the bookies have elected not outrightly favour anyone to claim a comfortable win.
Ghana scored Africa’s first set of goals in Qatar and could have even nicked a draw against Portugal if Inaki Williams had not slipped at the crucial time.
On the other hand, South Korea vs Uruguay was a little dull and actually had no shot on target – the first time that’s happened at the World Cup.
The Black Stars were good against Portugal and just a tad unlucky. With that knowledge in mind, backing them to avoid defeat against South Korea won’t be out of place.
Mohammed Kudus and Andre Ayew played their hearts out in that opening game and when they went off, Ghana’s collapse was monumental. Coach Otto Addo might want to stick with that same side and they could be key in this game.
As for Korea, their backline led by Napoli stalwart Min-Jae Kim will be keen to keep Ghana at bay and take a giant step towards reaching the next round.
