With another round of Premier League action waiting just around the corner, it means our Southampton vs Manchester United bet builder tips are not all that far away either. Tips that will focus on whether the Saints can build on their run of two matches without defeat,
While they will also focus on the Red Devils and with Erik ten Hag’s men earning a huge win over Liverpool on Monday night, they will look to progress further up the league table.
In this article:
Saturday, August 27th, 12.30 (UK)
When it comes to the Premier League, one week you are hot and the next you are not. While in terms of the sack race market which is starting to shape up, Ralph Hasenhuttl will be glad he has cooled down somewhat.
Because after Southampton suffered a 4-1 defeat at the hands of Tottenham on the opening weekend of the season. The Austrian’s odds to be shown the exit door first had shortened considerably.
Thankfully for him, a point at home to Leeds was then followed by a win at Leicester and after winning at the King Power. It has subsequently transferred the pressure of continued employment to Brendan Rodgers instead.
Now though, the Saints will prepare for the visit of Manchester United. After their bleak showing away at Brentford recently, some quarters were even suggesting that Erik ten Hag could be the first name out of the league’s exit door.
However, the former Ajax boss slammed that same door shut on Monday and after masterminding a hugely important win over rivals Liverpool, there is finally an air of optimism that is circulating around Old Trafford.
Of course, a win over Liverpool in isolation is no good to anyone at United and if their season is to finally get underway, they will also need to get the better of Southampton at the St Mary’s Stadium on Saturday.
After getting the better of Liverpool at the start of the week, Manchester United will want to avoid that being nothing more than a false dawn. Because should they fail to earn maximum points on the South Coast, the pressure will only return at Old Trafford.
Thankfully the Red Devils have a rather impressive record at St Mary’s and when you couple this with their performance on Monday, I think backing United to beat Southampton is the good starting point for any bet builder.
While Marcus Rashford played through the middle against Liverpool, he reminded everyone of his goal-scoring capabilities. Capabilities that should see him get the nod over Cristiano Ronaldo on Saturday.
Which means I am also opting for Rashford to score anytime and with these two picks, the bet builder is also beginning to take shape. While away from any combination bets, backing over 2.5 total goals at odds of 1.61 would look good as a standalone punt.
With a United win and Rashford getting on the scoresheet acting as the bedrock for my latest bet, it is time to drop into the disciplinary market next and I think it will see at least two cards from Craig Pawson.
This means I need one more selection to tie this all together and with nine or more total corners also seeming like the right balance between risk and reward, it means my bet builder is ready to pay out odds of 7.50 if it gets over the line.
Bet Builder odds: 7.50
Odds via Bet365 as at 10.45 August 25th 2022. Odds may now differ.
