Goals, goals, and more goals throughout Italy, France, and Yorkshire. The High Five article here at bettingexpert will focus on five picks from the five top European leagues, in the hope of as many winners across the board on Sunday evening.

Italy, Serie A, Sunday, August 21st, 19:45 (UK)
Navigating your way through the start of any season is by far the most challenging phase of a campaign from a betting viewpoint—limited trends, facts, and numbers behind new-look squads with different expectations to the previous year.
What we can quite clearly see from Serie A’s opening week, however, is that both Atalanta and AC Milan have their shooting boots on. It was 0-2 to the good away against Sampdoria for Gasperini’s side, while AC Milan hosted an Udinese side that conceded four and scored two. Both sides have strength in numbers in terms of players able to find the net, indicating you may need to look elsewhere in Italy for a bore draw on Sunday.
Fabio Maresca’s two European performances before Serie A had raised the curtain provide a snapshot into how the Italian referee officiates his matches. Nine yellows and one red in Shamrock Rovers vs Ludogrets followed five yellows in the previous game as the Champions League qualifiers were treated to bookings royalty.
From 16 appearances last term, Maresca delivered 3.06 cards on average in the second half of fixtures. It was a toss-up between the two sides for which team to choose in the selection. Nevertheless, with Milan being away from home and producing 2.16 cards per90 last season, the Champions make their way onto the bet slip. Coupled with a goal apiece, the 1.80 shout is a tempting one.

The hosts have been involved in two enthralling fixtures to begin the season in Ligue 1. A 0-5 hammering on home soil was papered over, ever so slightly, by a 2-4 win versus Stade Reims. The away victory should encourage Clermont fans somewhat, though trailing 2-0 in the first half before Emmanuel Agbadou received his marching orders isn’t ideal.
With OGC Nice’s one eye on UEFA Conference League qualification, Clermont Foot may have enough to sneak onto the scoresheet here. The Maccabi Haifa defeat in Israel means that’s all to play for in France next Thursday, albeit there’s a job to do up against Les Lanciers first.

There have been some sizable outgoings in Lille, including Zeki Celik and Renato Sanches, alongside Premier League new boys Sven Botman and Amadou Onana. Their start was fantastic, almost as if those notable outgoings still resided in France. A 4-1 comfortable showing against Auxerre was first before Les Dogues drew 1-1 to a Nantes side, who finished ninth last season. Not terrible, by any means.
Now, Paris Saint Germain comes to town and poses a different task entirely. In their most recent head-to-head, Lille hosted a 1-5 emphatic PSG win in February after October’s 2-1 in Paris followed a similar script. PSG registered a 0-5 win against Clermont Foot and a 5-2 victory against a visiting Montpellier in the second fixture this season. PSG are on it, and Lille are next on their hit list. The 2.84xG mustered away in Clermont should be enough to get this selection over the line if it’s another routine afternoon on their travels in Lille.

There are goals afoot. There has to be, given both sides’ start to life in 2022/23. Montpellier arrives hot off the back of a 3-2 season opener versus Troyes and a 5-2 lesson from PSG.
Auxerre, similarly, journeyed to Lille and were hit for four in a 4-1 thrashing before a 2-2 thrilling home draw entertained crowds last weekend. Montpellier will fancy their chances to get on the scoresheet here, and with 2.10 available for them to score 2+ against the newly-promoted outfit from Burgundy, it’s one to consider.

Leeds’ appalling record against the top six is at the forefront of thinking with the final selection. In 2021/22, the Elland Road faithful saw all six home games end in defeats. Not only that, but all those who travel valiantly around the country to watch their beloved Leeds also saw six losses on the road. That’s 12/12 fixtures where Leeds lost against the big boys; interestingly, all 12 matches saw three or more goals in each.
A Chelsea win and over 2.5 goals comes in at a respectable 2.25. However, as it’s early in the season, and Jesse Marsch has had a pre-season with a few of his own players, I’d suggest opting for over 1.5 goals instead.
Leeds continue to score and concede at will. The 2-1 win against Wolves and the 2-2 draw with the Saints show no slowing down this season in terms of goalmouth action. Chelsea should be too strong, and there should be goals on the menu.

A football acca is an accumulator bet, a type of bet that consists of several selections across different matches that are combined together into one single bet. An acca usually. consists of at least four selections but many more can be included. There will be odds for the single bet as a whole which is calculated by multiplying the odds of all of the selections. A football acca is one of the most popular ways to bet. This is the case because they can create potentially massive odds for a small stake. Many punters choose to create football accas which is what we have created here. If one of these selections loses then the football acca will lose. This type of bet needs every selection to win in order to succeed.
