The major European leagues may be coming to an end but fear not this Sunday brings another parade of perfectly plausible possibilities to put together for a bettingexpert Sunday night acca.
So having separated those that look most strong from those where it could all go wrong I have picked out my three best bets. Games from Germany, France and Italy make the cut.
In this article:
Germany, Bundesliga, Sunday, May 21st, 18:30 (UK)
Bayer Leverkusen’s stuttering end-of-season form continued last weekend. A 1-1 draw with struggling Stuttgart extended their winless run to three league games.
That point leaves Xabi Alonso’s side tied on points with Wolfsburg but outside of the guaranteed European qualification places on goal difference. Bayer needed to come from behind to salvage that point at the Mercedes-Benz Arena.
Serhou Guirassy’s cheeky panenka gave the home side the lead. Exequiel Palacios redeemed himself for giving away the spot kick by scoring a penalty of his own.
Borussia Mönchengladbach were mauled by a rampant Borussia Dortmund at Signal Iduna Park last weekend. Daniel Farke’s return to his old club soon became a nightmare as he watched his side ship four goals in the opening 32 minutes.
Die Fohlen bagged a couple of consolation goals to temporarily put some respectability to the scoreline only to concede the last goal of the game. The 5-2 defeat saw Gladbach slip into the bottom half of the table. Now closer to the relegation zone than the European qualification places.
Leverkusen’s failure to break down a Jose Mourinho-led Roma on Thursday night meant elimination from the Europa League. A defeat that will only sharpen the focus of Xabi Alonso’s men in gaining European qualification for next season via their league position.
Gladbach could provide the perfect opponent to bounce back. Only Bochum and rock bottom Hertha have picked up fewer points than Farke’s men away from home. With just one win to their names from 16 road trips.
Goals are likely to be on the menu. The last six meetings between these two sides have produced 24 goals with Die Werkself winning all of them. Five of the last seven have seen at least three goals with both teams getting on the scoresheet.
Over 2.5 goals and both teams to score has also landed in five of Leverkusen’s last six home league games.

France, Ligue 1, Sunday, May 21st, 19:45 (UK)
Auxerre’s wait for a vital win in the battle to avoid the drop was extended to four games last weekend. Jérémy Le Douaron’s strike 20 minutes from time for Brest proved to be the only goal of the game. In doing so opened up a crucial four-point gap between the two clubs.
The only positive for Christophe Pélissier’s side is none of the four teams below them can pick up a win either. However, the gap to Nantes in the final relegation place is now just a solitary point.
With three games to go, it looks like a straight shootout between the two as to who drops into Ligue 2.
There was a strange atmosphere at Parc des Princes as PSG steamrolled Ajaccio 5-0 and sent them to the second tier in the process. Despite the procession, there were boos to greet Lionel Messi’s return to the starting lineup.
Les Parisiens responded to their nearest rivals Lens closing the gap at the top of the table to three points with victory the night before. There was never any danger that the cushion wasn’t going to be restored to six points. Two first-half goals rendered the second 45 tantamount to an exhibition.
It’s not been a convincing season by any stretch of the imagination for PSG. Although it looks certain to end with another Ligue 1 title.
In recent weeks it appears the only time to side with Les Parisiens is when they have a point to prove. Or their key players are chasing personal glory.
Given their vastly superior goal difference a win here for Christophe Galtier’s men all but seals the title. So that should take care of the motivation this weekend.
The player likely to contribute most to that achievement is Kylian Mbappe. For a while, it looked as if he had the top goalscorer award in the bag. However, a renaissance from Alexandre Lacazette sees the 24-year-old just one goal ahead of the Lyon man.
Mbappe has hit seven goals in his last five games scoring at least once in all of them. Two of those came last week including a volleyed screamer into the top corner. This represents a great opportunity to extend that run and stay ahead of Lacazette.
Italy, Serie A, Sunday, May 21st, 19:45 (UK)
Udinese will bask in the relative glory of not being involved in the relegation scrap. A strong start to the season has allowed them a little leeway at the end of it to swallow some inconsistency. However, the possibility of a top-half finish for the first time in 10 years provides a little motivation over the remaining fixtures.
All four of their defeats in the last eight games have come on the road so the Zebrette will be pleased to be back on home soil. An unbeaten run of eight games at the Dacia Arena shows they will be no pushover. Although five of those fixtures ended all square.
Lazio are labouring over the line. For what looked like a foregone conclusion that Champions League football would be featuring on their fixture list next year, the job still needs completing.
A run of three defeats from their last five Serie A outings has seen their lead to 5th place reduced to four points.
Lazio seemed to have hit something of a wall. Running out of steam both as far as the season is concerned but also over the course of 90 minutes.
Having taken a first half lead at Stadio Olimpico, Maurizio Sarri’s men fell behind to two Lecce goals either side of the interval. It needed a Sergej Milinković-Savić 94th-minute equaliser to rescue a point.
A third time in the last four games Le Aquile have conceded at least twice. Those frailties can be exploited by a carefree Udinese side who have a strong home record.
After drawing a blank in their seasonal home curtain raiser Andrea Sottil’s side have got on the scoresheet in every subsequent game on home soil. A run of 16 fixtures and a sequence that has seen both teams score in 12 of the last 14.

A football acca is an accumulator bet, a type of bet that consists of several selections across different matches that are combined together into one single bet. An acca usually. consists of at least four selections but many more can be included. There will be odds for the single bet as a whole which is calculated by multiplying the odds of all of the selections. A football acca is one of the most popular ways to bet. This is the case because they can create potentially massive odds for a small stake. Many punters choose to create football accas which is what we have created here. If one of these selections loses then the football acca will lose. This type of bet needs every selection to win in order to succeed.
