With the Premier League season in its penultimate weekend, we’ve got Tottenham vs Brentford bet builder tips ready to go. Tips that will focus on whether Spurs can revive a season that is on life support.
We’ll also look at how the Bees will manage without the attacking services of Ivan Toney, as the England international begins his lengthy suspension.
In this article:
England, Premier League, Saturday, May 20th, 2023 (UK)
Any hopes of Tottenham using that win over Crystal Palace to build momentum were subsequently ended by Aston Villa last Saturday. Not only have Spurs’ Europa League hopes diminished, but so has any form of European qualification.
As things stand before the penultimate round of Premier League fixtures, it is only a superior goal difference that is keeping Ryan Mason’s men in the top seven. While it is Villa themselves who are staying right on their coattails.
This means it is almost a straight shootout in the final two rounds of the season and the first round for the North London outfit is the visit of Brentford on Saturday. Although it is a Brentford side that will be shellshocked by recent news.
With Ivan Toney being handed a lengthy ban, the 27-year old is suspended until January 2024.
Although the club are not really going to feel the sting of such a decision until next season, it is still an almighty blow for manager Thomas Frank to deal with and one wonders how it will impact his preparations before Saturday.
Especially as Brentford are still in with a shout of making the top seven themselves. A win in North London and favourable results elsewhere would catapult them into the European mix before the final day.
With just one defeat in their last six league outings, Brentford are far from throwing in the towel as evidenced in last weekend’s win over West Ham. One London scalp has recently been claimed, can the Bees claim a second in as many weeks?
If there is one thing I would not recommend as of late it is backing Tottenham to earn a Premier League win. A team that is lacking direction both on the field and off is not one that warrants a place on my slip.
Therefore, I am going to look at the direction of Brentford instead. Although backing the Bees to earn maximum points in North London may be something of a stretch, I do fancy them to earn at least one.
The two teams met on Boxing Day and shared the points in West London, as Spurs clawed their way back from 2-0 down. I would not be surprised if the same final score was logged in the history books on Saturday.
This means that if both teams are to score, both teams are going to need a goalscorer on the betting slip. The first pick is rather obvious but sometimes the selections simply have to be and therefore, Harry Kane will be tasked with doing the business for Spurs.
Considering he has scored in 24 separate Premier League matches this season, the balance of probabilities is on our side. The Tottenham element is easy to name, the Brentford one not so much.
With no Ivan Toney to call upon, it will need one of the supporting cast to step into the limelight and I have opted for Brian Mbuemo to net for Brentford. Add no more than four total goals and this bet builder is priced at a weighty 26.00.
