Tottenham vs Nottingham Forest Preview
England, Premier League, Saturday, March 11th, 15:00 (UK)
After failing to overturn last month’s defeat at the San Siro, Tottenham’s run in this season’s Champions League has now come to an end. A bore draw on Wednesday was enough to see AC Milan progress in North London and it was enough to rile the home support.
Because after witnessing a third successive defeat and a third insipid performance to go with it, the natives are now starting to get rather restless. A cacophony of boos signalled toward manager Antonio Conte and even his short-term future has now been brought into scrutiny.
There is no secret that the Italian has not put pen to paper on a new contract in N17 and the longer this saga continues, the less likely chairman Daniel Levy wants to nudge him for such a signature.
A top four finish is sill in Tottenham’s hands but the momentum certainly is not. With the visit of Nottingham Forest awaiting them on Saturday, Spurs dare not throw away any further incentive to Liverpool below.
Coming into this game, visitors Forest have picked up just 2 points from the last 12. That pair of points have both come at the City Ground, as an impressive showing against Manchester City cooled Pep Guardiola’s title charge.
While last Sunday, there was perhaps a sense of two points dropped at home to Everton. A welcome point it must be said all the same but with the relegation battle being as cutthroat as it is, three would have been even more gratefully received.

No win in three in all competitions for Tottenham, no win in four league attempts for Nottingham Forest. Although it could be a draw in North London, you do get the feeling that something has to give on Saturday.
Something that in my opinion is given to Tottenham, as they finally managed to return to winning ways. If there is one semblance of hope that they can take from Wednesday’s Champions League defeat, they can at least put their eggs into a single basket.
That basket is the race for the Premier League top four. With Harry Kane last scoring in the competition against Chelsea, I am backing the England captain to once again find the net for his boyhood club.
Add Kane to the scoresheet as Spurs try to rid themselves of that second-half team tag. A tag that can be erased if they get their noses in front before the break. If they do that, I cannot see them slipping up in the second.
Not only that, but we should not forget that Spurs have kept three successive home league clean sheets and with Forest being rather toothless on the road, I believe Fraser Forster will have a relatively quiet afternoon.
The same cannot be said for Keylor Navas, as the Costa Rican will be picking the ball out of his net on at least two separate occasions. Should all this tie together, as I hope it does, odds of 5.50 will soon be converted into winnings.
- Harry Kane to score
- Tottenham halftime/Tottenham fulltime
- Both teams to score – no
- Two or more goal winning margin for Tottenham
