West Brom vs Wigan Preview

West Brom’s toils on the road continued on Friday night. Suffering a fifth-straight away defeat after being beaten 2-0 at Hull. Following the rest of the weekend’s action, the Baggies now find themselves down in 11th place. They will be keen to use this game in hand against their relegation-threatened visitors. Ipswich ruthlessly took the game away from visitors Burton on Saturday. Three goals in the final 15 minutes of the first half set up a comfortable 4-0 win. The victory kept the Tractor Boys in the hunt for automatic promotion. However, despite three successive league wins, Kieran McKenna’s side are still five points behind 2nd-placed Plymouth. The home side will be desperate for three points here to keep up the pressure on the Pilgrims.

Accrington need points to try and stay in the league rather than get out of it like their hosts. Stanley moved out of the drop zone thanks to a come-from-behind 2-1 win over rock-bottom Forest Green on Saturday. However, it took a red card for Rovers’ Oliver Casey on 43 minutes to turn the contest in the favour of John Coleman’s side. Aaron Pressley scored from the resulting free kick with Rosaire Longelo completing the turnaround midway through the second period.

Ipswich vs Accrington Best Bet

Ipswich have only lost one league game at Portman Road this season. Of their 10 wins, eight have been “to-nil”. The weekend victory was also a fourth successive clean sheet and also a third 4-0 triumph from their last four games on home soil. They will be confident of extending that run against the third tier’s lowest scorers when on the road. Accrington have hit the back of the net just nine times when playing away. Failing to score in four of their last six road trips.

Plymouth vs Derby Preview

Plymouth bounced back from their 5-2 drubbing at Peterborough as they beat Charlton on Saturday. Second-half goals from Ryan Hardie and Niall Ennis secured a 2-0 win at Home Park. With Ipswich looming large in their rear view mirror five points back in 3rd the Pilgrims know they can’t afford to take their foot off the gas. Steven Schumacher would take a repeat of the result in the reverse fixture but perhaps in not such dramatic style! Trailing 2-0 at halftime Argyle struck three times in the second half with Sam Cosgrove firing in the winner in the last minute.

Paul Warne’s men also squandered a 2-0 lead at home to Shrewsbury on Saturday. At least holding on to a point which keeps the Rams in the play-off places with a seven-point buffer to Wycombe in 7th. There is however a big 10-point gap to the hosts. Meaning if promotion back to the Championship is to be secured at the first time of asking, it will have to come via a May 28th trip to Wembley.

Plymouth vs Derby Best Bet

Plymouth have a stunning home record. The defeat of the Addicks on Saturday was the 15th win in the league from 17 attempts. Derby meanwhile have won just five of their 16 League One road trips. After putting a 15 game unbeaten sequence together in the third tier the Rams have lost both their away games. A 3-2 defeat at Wycombe ended that run before Warne saw his side thumped 4-1 at play-off rivals Barnsley in their last away day. It is impossible to pass up a side in 2nd place with a win percentage at home of 88% at odds of 2.70.
