Villarreal vs Getafe Tip 1: Get The Goals Onside

Spain, La Liga, Friday, February 16th, 20:00 (UK)

Villarreal is one of the more exciting teams to watch in La Liga. They have scored 34 and have conceded a whopping 46 in their 24 La Liga matches this term, an impressive 3.33 goals per game.

Getafe, when playing at home, are compact, tough to break down and often play out low-scoring affairs; just 24 goals have been scored in their 12 home encounters.

However, it’s a totally different story when they’re on the road. Bordalas’ men have scored 18 whilst shipping 23 in 12 away days; that’s 3.42 goals on average.

The pair have managed just three clean sheets between them in 24 matches when playing at home and away, respectively. The Yellow Submarine’s only shutout came against the lowest scorers of the division.

Borja Mayoral is having a tremendous campaign for the visitors. He’s bagged 15 times this term, which includes the opener in Getafe’s victory at the weekend.

Gerard Moreno and Alexander Sorloth pose a threat. The Villarreal duo have found the back of the net a combined 18 times in 23/24.

The proposed selection has a strong success rate; 75% of matches here have seen at least three goals, whilst eight of Getafe’s away days have seen this bet land.

  • Villarreal vs Getafe Prediction: Over 2.5 Goals (TRACKED BET)
  • Best Odds: 1.99
  • Bookmaker: bet365
  • Stake: 7/10

Villarreal vs Getafe Tip 2: Mayoral On A Mission

Borja Mayoral has scored 15 of Getafe’s 32 goals in the current campaign. Only Jude Bellingham has scored a greater amount than the 26-year-old. Borja began his career at Real Madrid. He scored a fair few goals for the Spanish giants. He’s played in Germany and Italy for Wolfsburg and Roma, respectively, and has found a new home in Getafe, where he’s having his best season by some distance.

I expect Getafe and, more importantly, Mayarol to get opportunities in this clash, given just how poor Villarreal are defensively. Marcelino’s men have the second-worst xGA in La Liga and have managed just three clean sheets throughout the campaign.

Our man has taken 44 shots this season, 26 of those have hit the target. The Spaniard has an impressive conversion rate; all his 15 goals have come inside the box, with four of those goals coming from the penalty spot.

The price of Mayarol to score here does appeal. He’s in sensational form and often finds the back of the net against sides below Getafe in the table.

No side has conceded more goals at home than Villarreal. It’s an uninspiring statistic, but it’s one Mayoral can take advantage of.

  • Villarreal vs Getafe Prediction: Borja Mayoral Anytime Goalscorer (TRACKED BET)
  • Best Odds: 3.10
  • Bookmaker: bet365
  • Stake: 3/10

Villarreal vs Getafe Tip 3: Another Fast Start

Villarreal have been involved in four goalless first halves at Estadio de la Ceramica this term. The last time they were on the home side, their game ended 0-0, which was a disappointing result. I expect the boys in yellow to come out firing on Friday night in a clash they have every chance of winning.

It’s rare to see no goals in the opening 45 minutes of a match where Getafe are the visiting side; 11 of their 12 away days have seen a first-half goal, and six have seen at least two strikes. This is a team that takes their foot off the break on the road. They attack with purpose and are a joy to watch at times.

In a clash between two sides going all out for the win, I expect another lively start. 75% of Getafe’s away days have seen a goal within the opening 15 minutes.

Another early strike would open things up.

Half of Villarreal’s 12 matches here have seen a goal between 35 minutes and halftime; it’s one better for the visitors; seven separate matches have seen a goal within the same timeframe.

  • Villarreal vs Getafe Prediction: Over 1.0 First Half Goal Line (TRACKED BET)
  • Best Odds: 1.93
  • Bookmaker: bet365
  • Stake: 4/10

Villarreal vs Getafe Team News and Possible Lineups: There’s Good And There’s Bad

Villarreal have a number of absentees heading into this encounter. Alfonso Pedraza isn’t expected to return in time due to his ankle injury, Daniel Parejo is suffering from a knee injury, and Ramon Terrats will not be involved.

Eric Bailly and Juan Foyth may return to the side, unlike Yeremi Pino, who’s unfortunately out for the season.

Getafe are looking in good shape, there appear to be no significant injury concerns ahead of this clash. Mauro Arambarri has been out for some time and won’t be returning until next season.

It’s a positive and healthy Getafe camp.

Villarreal possible starting lineup:
Jorgensen; Albiol, Cuenca, Mosquera, Kiko,Coquelin, Comesana, Baena, Akhomach, Sorloth; Moreno

Getafe possible starting lineup:
Soria; Djene, Alderete, Rico, Alvarez, Iglesias, Maksimovic, Milla, Greenwood, Mata; Mayoral
