Wednesday Night Acca Tips: January 11th

This Wednesday night sees the bonus of a full round of Ligue 1 fixtures in France. Like its English counterpart, there was a break for cup football last weekend. I’ve taken a close look at all 10 games and picked out my three best bets. Combining them to give a bettingexpert acca at odds of 7.39.

In this article:

Lorient vs Monaco Preview

France, Ligue 1, Wednesday, January 11th, 20:00 (UK)

After a fantastic start to the season, Lorient hit the proverbial brick wall to draw 2022 to a close. Eight wins from their opening 10 fixtures ended with no win in six. However, with the Christmas decorations on their way down, Les Merlus were back on the up to kick off 2023. Régis Le Bris’ side reignited their European qualification aspirations with a 2-1 victory over Angers on New Years’ Day. A weekend 6-0 thrashing of La Châtaigneraie in the Coupe de France has warmed them up nicely for this clash with the side directly above them in the league.

There was no such confidence boost for Monaco. Despite taking a two-goal lead, they were dumped out of the cup on penalties by second-tier Rodez. A performance Philippe Clement described as “unacceptable”. He will demand a return to the form which saw his team win both league games post-World Cup break.

Lorient vs Monaco Best Bet

Lorient come into this massive clash having lost their last three home league games. Conceding two goals in each of those defeats. Given the Monegasques have won 10 of their last 13 Ligue 1 road trips they are not ideal visitors. Having scored 30 goals across that sequence with at least one strike in all of them this game screams goals.

Especially with the home side having the in-demand Terem Moffi in their ranks. Only Kylian Mbappe and Neymar have scored more than the 23-year-old’s 10 goals in the French top flight this season. A combined 21 (62%) of these two sides’ 34 league games this term have seen three or more goals. Six of Lorient’s eight games at Stade du Moustoir have crossed the over 2.5 goals line. While Monaco’s away games have seen an average of 3.13.

  • Selection: Over 2.75 goal line (TRACKED BET)
  • Best Odds: 1.92 (bet365)
  • Stakes: 7/10

PSG vs Angers Preview

France, Ligue 1, Wednesday, January 11th, 20:00 (UK)

Top plays bottom at the Parc des Princes on Wednesday evening. It could be a case of beware the wounded animal as Angers visit the capital. The Parisians secured progress in the Coupe de France with a 3-1 victory over third-tier opposition Chateauroux. However, prior to that Christophe Galtier’s side fell to their first league defeat of the season.

A 3-1 defeat to closest rivals Lens who closed the gap at the top of the table to four points. PSG will welcome back and no doubt celebrate the return of Lionel Messi following his leading role in Argentina’s World Cup win.
Le SCO have the toughest fixture to attempt recording a 10th successive Ligue 1 defeat. On a positive note they have managed to join their hosts in the fourth round of the cup. Emerging victorious from a penalty shootout following a goalless draw with Strasbourg.

PSG vs Angers Best Bet

This is not a case of if PSG will win as they have done in the previous 14 head-to-heads by an aggregate of 43-6, but more a case of by how many. Not only is World Cup winner Messi back on duty but there is a possibility Neymar will join him in the starting lineup following his suspension.

Following the Lens defeat, Kylian Mbappe and Achraf Hakimi flew to New York to take in some NBA as part of their 10 days off awarded to them by their manager. It is the former I am taking to return with a bang and get on the scoresheet. The Golden Boot winner has already added to his domestic tally since returning from his eight goal haul in Qatar.

This represents a massive opportunity to add to his Ligue 1 high 13 strikes this term. Eleven (79%) of those last 14 defeats of Angers had seen PSG net in the first half. Les Parisiens have got on the scoresheet in the first 45 minutes in all but two of their 17 league games this campaign. Scoring before the interval in 10 of their 11 competitive appearances at the Parc des Princes.

  • Selection: PSG to win, Mbappe to score, over 0 goals in the first half for PSG (TRACKED BET)
  • Best Odds: 1.83 (bet365)
  • Stakes: 7/10

Strasbourg vs Lens Preview

France, Ligue 1, Wednesday, January 11th, 20:00 (UK)

Julien Stephan finally paid the price for a disastrous start to his second season at Stade de la Meinau. The fantastic 6th-placed finish last term is a distant memory following just one victory from 17 league games. Back-to-back post-World Cup defeats leave 19th-placed Le Racing four points from safety. A situation compounded by elimination from the Coupe de France at the hands of Angers. The only side beneath them in Ligue 1. Assistant Mathieu Le Scornet will take temporary charge for this tough test.

2nd-placed Lens are flying. A run of five successive wins going into the mid-season break was halted by a goalless draw at Nice. However, an eye-catching 3-1 defeat of the champions kept their dreams of a title challenge alive. There was no cup slip-up in dispatching Linas-Montlhery and now the focus returns to keeping the pressure on PSG at the summit.

Strasbourg vs Lens Best Bet

Lens look a great price to win here but I am taking a slightly cautious approach. Not only do the hosts have a change of manager albeit an interim one they have proved stubborn opponents. Despite only registering a solitary win so far this term they have drawn five of their nine home games. It also took a Kylian Mbappe penalty six minutes into injury time to deny them a point in Paris in the first game following the World Cup.

With Lens losing just two of their last 15 away league games taking the double chance looks the best way in. Franck Haise’s side impressively not conceding multi goals in any of those assignments. Although Les Sang et Or aren’t particularly prolific I am also taking them to score two or more goals here. Something they have managed in four of their last five league games and should do again here. Given the hosts have shipped at least twice in four of their last five Ligue 1 outings in front of their own fans.

  • Selection: Draw or Lens Double Chance and over 1 Lens goal (TRACKED BET)
  • Best Odds: 2.10 (bet365)
  • Stakes: 7/10

WHAT IS A FOOTBALL ACCA?

A  football acca is an accumulator bet, a type of bet that consists of several selections across different matches that are combined together into one single bet. An acca usually. consists of at least four selections but many more can be included. There will be odds for the single bet as a whole which is calculated by multiplying the odds of all of the selections. A  football acca is one of the most popular ways to bet. This is the case because they can create potentially massive odds for a small stake. Many punters choose to create Premier League accas which is what we have created here.If one of these selections loses then the football acca will lose. This type of bet needs every selection to win in order to succeed.
