In the latest instalment of the Premier League, onlookers were treated to a spectacle or two as they often are. Big-money signing Antony kicked his Old Trafford career off in the best way, whilst a Merseyside derby played out to a 0-0 draw for the third time in the last ten meetings. In the latest round-up to the weekend from William Hill, we’ll take a deeper look at the betting trends.
It was another weekend of beating the bookmaker for a host of William Hill punters. One player, equipped with £27 and William Hill’s Build Your Odds function, returned £2322 from WBA vs Burnley on Friday. West Brom’s last-minute equaliser landed a winning selection which included a draw, West Brom on a -1 corner handicap and Burnley to have the most second-half corners – excellent punting.
Another punter moved to take a chunk from William Hill via Saturday’s Premier League fixtures. From a £12 stake, an acca consisting of cards, total goals, and both teams to score markets to land just under £2500.
Lastly, a William Hill player managed to get the better of the betting gods by turning a £5 acca into £1700. Goals, corners and cards were on the agenda across fixtures from the Eredivisie, La Liga, Spanish Segunda and the Norwegian Eliteserian.
After a goalless draw in the Merseyside derby, in another game where Liverpool failed to take the lion’s share of the spoils, Klopp’s men drifted from 6/1 to 7/1 in the outright markets to lift the Premier League. Elsewhere, the big movers come in the shape of a Manchester United eleven who defeated an undefeated Gunners outfit. The Red Devils’ jump from 33/1 to 16/1 represents the most significant shift in the outright betting.
Therefore, it should come as no surprise that United take the gong for the biggest change in the top four betting prices, too. The Old Trafford lodgers went from 7/4 to 5/4 for a shot at Champions League football. At the other end, in the relegation stakes, Scott Parker’s dismissal alongside a big win in Nottingham took the Cherries from 2/5 to 3/10.
Heading the other way, Leicester City moves from 2/1 to 11/4 on the back of another dismal showing versus Brighton. Brendan Rodgers’ future is far from safe as you’d expect, with The Foxes occupying last place in the Premier League after a winless six matches. The Leicester gaffer is now the clear favourite to be next in a line down the job centre at 1/3, coming in from 11/8 before a ball was kicked in anger this weekend.
For Sunday’s tasty match-up, William Hill ran a Build YourOdds promotion on Man Utd versus Arsenal where punters could claim a free matched bet (up to £5) to use on the Build Your Odds function. Well, one shrewd player did just that.
A £1300 win from a free £5 bet? Not bad at all. The chosen punt from one lucky punter called Man Utd or Arsenal to win, United new-boy Antony to get on the scoresheet, Eriksen to assist, Eriksen & Saliba to get booked and an over goals and corners market.
Heading back a little further into the midweek fixture between Liverpool and Newcastle, Hills also ran a winning Double YourOdds promotion. Liverpool to win, Luis Diaz to have over one shot on target, and over ten corners in the match, coming in at 7/2. Thank you very much.
For the weekend coming, there’s an EPIC ODDS promotion brimming on the horizon. Over one goal to be scored in Fulham vs Chelsea? That will do nicely.
