It’s a West Ham vs Fulham prediction, team news, lineups, and fixtures preview next on the agenda for Tom Winch here at bettingexpert as we tackle the Sunday afternoon Premier League game at the London Stadium.
The Hammers have a vital Europa League clash with Leverkusen either side of this meeting with Fulham. Eyes will be elsewhere, but David Moyes will demand concentration from his players ahead of this London derby. Fulham’s season is almost over. They have nothing to play for with six matches to go. They’re winless since that impressive 3-0 win over Spurs.
England, Premier League, Sunday, April 14th, 14:00 (UK)
West Ham are a side that aren’t always easy to predict. David Moyes’ men are often lethargic when they take to the field and can sometimes be tough viewing. The likes of Bowen, Paqueta and Kudus are exceptional football players. The hosts have the quality to beat a Fulham side whose season is basically over.
The Hammers have scored 26 Premier League goals at the London Stadium this season. They’ve accumulated 25 points from their 16 home games. WHU have tasted defeat three times. The proposed selection has landed in eight of those 16 matches.
Moyes’ men have hosted eight sides who occupy the bottom half of the table. West Ham have scored two or more goals in five matches, failing to score just once.
I think it’s fair to say that Fulham’s season is over. They’ll finish comfortably in midtable. Marco Silva’s men have shipped 35 goals in their 16 away days this term. Only Luton have conceded more.
This bet has landed against Fulham in eight of their previous ten away days. The Cottagers haven’t managed a clean sheet since September, and I struggle to see how they prevent West Ham from scoring.
West Ham’s Europa League clash is a distraction. I still expect a positive performance in the capital.
Rodrigo Muniz has been excellent in recent weeks. Fulham’s season may be over, but the Brazilian has plenty to prove. The 22-year-old has found the back of the net eight times in his previous ten matches. His price to score looks like a big one at the London Stadium against a West Ham side who haven’t kept a clean sheet in 12 consecutive Premier League outings.
Fulham’s number 19 has some impressive statistics. Across his 1201 minutes of action, he’s recorded 58 shots, with 19 hitting the target. That’s 4.35 and 1.42 per 90, respectively. Seven of his eight goals have arrived inside the box.
With Aleksandar Mitrovic leaving the club at the beginning of the season, many thought Marco Silva’s men would struggle in front of goal. Several players have scored a handful of goals, such as Bobby Reid, Iwobi and Willian. Raul Jimenez hasn’t been the same since his injury. Muniz has shown signs that he can be the man to take over from the super Serbian.
Muniz is full of confidence. He’s a player that isn’t afraid to shoot. The Brazilian has found the back of the net in six of his last ten outings. I expect him to improve on that tally on Sunday.
Yellow cards and Edson Alvarez go hand in hand. The Mexican has picked up a caution ten times this season across 2064 minutes of Premier League football. That’s an average of 0.44 cards per 90. The 26-year-old is often busy in the heart of the West Ham midfield, and his price to receive a booking does appeal.
Only Fulham’s Joao Palhinha has received more cautions than West Ham’s man this term. The Portuguese has the shortest price available on the market at 2.62. That comes as little surprise.
The visitors have many tricky players who pose a threat. Willian, Pereira, Wilson and Adama Traore are all expected to feature in this encounter. I expect West Ham’s number 19 to be a busy man.
Edson Alvarez didn’t feature in the reverse fixture, where Fulham were rampant and won 5-0. I like to think that Moyes’ men will want to get revenge.
I like the price on offer. Alvarez is never far away from committing a foul that’s yellow card-worthy. Edson has made multiple tackles in ten of his previous 11 matches. He’s also committed a foul in all seven recent matches at this venue.
West Ham vs Fulham Prediction odds via bet365 as at 09:00, April 10th, 2024. Odds may now differ.
Alphonse Areola will not feature on Sunday. The Goalkeeper is suffering from a muscle injury. Jarrod Bowen is a doubt. He was substituted in West Ham’s victory over Wolves last weekend. There’s hope that he returns in time for the upcoming encounter.
Fulham can count themselves lucky. Marco Silva has a full squad. That’s a rarity at this current stage of the season.
West Ham possible starting lineup:
Fabianski; Coufal, Mavropanos, Zouma, Emerson, Alvarez, Soucek, Kudus, Ward-Prowse, Paqueta; Bowen
Fulham possible starting lineup:
Leno; Castaagne, Tosin, Bassey, Robinson, Cairney, Palhinha, Iwobi, Pereira, Willian; Muniz
