The battle to avoid the Premier League drop is intensifying with every week that passes. Three teams will succumb to relegation and as many as eight teams are in the mix with Wolves battling it out.

With the Molineux outfit having picked up just a single point from the last nine on offer, Julen Lopetegui and his players can feel the clubs in the bottom three breathing down their necks. Should weekend results go against them, they will return to the drop zone.

After a bright start to his time in the West Midlands, the new manager bounce has certainly dissipated for Lopetegui and just how his predecessor failed when it came to finding a playing style that produced goals, the former Spain boss is running into the same issue.

An issue that will need to be addressed before the weekend, as Tottenham lie in wait and after an embarrassing cup exit at the hands of Sheffield United, the previous period of North London calm has now been disrupted.

Because after getting the better of a rather blunt Chelsea on Sunday, the team that is being overseen by Cristian Stellini had moved in to the Champions League paying places and had a genuine tilt at least one Wembley trip in the spring.

Now though, Spurs are going to have to pick up the pieces after another dreadful performance on the road and if they cannot cure the awayday ailment, Wolves may just fancy their chances of getting that much-needed win.

Both teams need a win for differing reasons. Wolves could do with a maximum to keep a comfortable distance between themselves and the bottom three. Tottenham may be able to profit from a Manchester City win over Newcastle at the start of Saturday.

Unfortunately for both teams, I have a feeling that this will be a stalemate at Molineux. The hosts do not have enough attacking guile to truly put a wounded side to the sword. The visitors are struggling to offer anything on the road.

Add these two issues together and a share of the points seems the natural way to go before the game gets underway. While when it comes to predicting an anytime goalscorer, there is only one person to pick.

Wolves’ forwards are too indifferent to hang your hat on, the same cannot be said for Harry Kane. The England captain may have only been starting from the subs bench on Wednesday. That will not be the case come the weekend.

A goal for Kane and one of exactly two in total – which when looking at my first of four picks means that I am also predicting a 1-1 draw as the scoreline. With the combination of factors, it cannot be anything else.

However, the corners market is a different proposition and as long as six or more are taken in total, this would tick off the final leg of my bet builder. If the three before it go the same way, this one will pay out pre-match odds of 19.00 – a very tempting price indeed.
