Cincinnati Bengals vs Miami Dolphins Bet Builder Tips: Thursday, September 29th

The 3-0 Miami Dolphins are 3.5-point underdogs for Thursday night’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals. Cincinnati’s homefield advantage likely makes up most (or all) of that spread, with the Bengals starting at 1-2.
Scepticism about Tua Tagovailoa has rapidly waned. Miami saw off the Buffalo Bills in a thriller last weekend, and sit with the Philadelphia Eagles as one of two perfect teams heading into Week 4. Cincinnati got its first win of the season over the lowly New York Jets in Week 3, but only narrowly lost to the Steelers and Cowboys in the first two weeks of the campaign.

It feels like the Bengals are being undervalued here. Cincinnati notched several statement wins at home last season, including against the Chiefs and Ravens. Miami is on an ultra-short week, and is nursing numerous injuries, including to wideout Jaylen Waddle, star cornerback Xavien Howard and Tagovailoa. Tagovailoa’s back is a concern, and his player props aren’t available for the bet builder at the time of writing.

While we’d look to take the under on Tagovailoa passing yards if available here despite Cincinnati’s porous secondary, we can instead look to Miami’s ground attack. Their rushing game has been subpar thus far, but Raheem Mostert is going to see a lot of the ball on Thursday night as Miami looks to protect Tagovailoa. Miami’s offensive line has been stellar, and Mostert’s rushing yards line is set at just 38.5. This seems an easy over – Mostert had 51 yards in Week 2 and averaged well north of this mark in his last two substantial seasons.

On the other side of the ball, the Bengals offensive line will breathe a sigh of relief coming into this one. Despite an overhaul in the summer, Cincinnati has still struggled to protect Joe Burrow. Fortunately, they face not only a fatigued Miami team, but one which has the fourth-lowest pressure rate in the league.

Burrow has six passing touchdowns to his name already this season, and should have time to pick out receivers on Thursday night. Over 1.5 passing touchdowns is a great bet.

Miami has the secondary to at least break up the Burrow and Ja’Marr Chase relationship. Burrow will be forced to look to Tee Higgins instead, who had 71 receiving yards in Week 2 and 93 in Week 3 after being limited in Week 1. Higgins to have over 63.5 receiving yards seems like superb value here given the expectation that Burrow will thrive.

Banged up and fatigued, it will take something extraordinary for Miami to win this one. Their early season performances will tempt some into backing them at +3.5. It isn’t the way we’re going here, though. Cincinnati is rightly favoured, but instead of relying on them to cover, let’s take the moneyline to get this to 7.50.

  • Raheem Mostert over 38.5 rushing yards
  • Joe Burrow over 1.5 passing touchdowns
  • Tee Higgins over 63.5 receiving yards
  • Cincinnati Bengals Moneyline

Bet Builder Odds: 7.50
