Dallas Cowboys vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers Bet Builder Tips: Sunday, September 11th

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers went through the retirement and unretirement of Tom Brady during the offseason. A summer of roster turnover around Brady provokes some uncertainty about the Buccaneers ahead of their season opener away to the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday night.

Dallas ran up against the salary cap, resulting in several key departures. Still expected to reach the postseason, the Cowboys are 2.5-point underdogs for the visit of Tampa Bay. Dallas had the best record against the spread in 2021, however, covering in 72.2% of their games.

On that note, the spread is a good place to start with this bet builder. While Dallas covered in almost three-quarters of games last season, an alternate line is the best option here. There’s not much reason to take +2.5 instead of the moneyline. This should be a close-fought game between two of the NFC’s best teams, so let’s go with the Cowboys to keep it within a touchdown at +4.5.

The balance of the Dallas offence is something to keep an eye on this season. Ezekiel Elliott and Tony Pollard are expected to share running back duties, but some believe the latter could end up as the primary ball carrier. Pollard averaged 47.9 rushing yards per game last season on 5.5 yards per attempt. Elliott has seen his rushing attempts decrease in each season since 2017.

Tampa Bay was only a middling run defence last season, averaging 4.3 yards per carry. Only six teams missed more tackles.

Ultimately, Pollard’s 30.5 rushing yards line is on the low side given his numbers and the Buccaneers’ issues against the ground attack.

Where the Cowboys will give their running backs a look, the Buccaneers’ offence is about putting the ball in Tom Brady’s hands. The seven-time Super Bowl winner led the NFL in passing yards and passing touchdowns in 2021. Even after a disrupted preseason, he will be ready to go on Sunday night and could pick apart the Cowboys’ secondary which was only middle-of-the-pack in net yards per opponent pass attempt. Dallas’ pass rush is effective, but it will have its work cut out against this Tampa Bay offensive line.

After averaging over 312 passing yards per game in 2021, Brady to go over 274.5 is a good bet.

The passing game is the Buccaneers’ bread and butter, but the rush is still going to have a part to play. Leonard Fournette tops their depth chart at running back, coming off a joint-career-high of 10 touchdowns last season.

Dallas was below average defending in the redzone in 2021. The same goes for their scoring percentage against the run. Tampa Bay will be willing to give Fournette the ball when the endzone is in sight. After scoring two times in the playoff loss to the Rams, the former Jaguar is worth adding to this bet builder to get us to 11.00.

  • Dallas Cowboys +4.5
  • Tony Pollard over 30.5 rushing yards
  • Tom Brady over 274.5 passing yards
  • Leonard Fournette to score a touchdown

Bet Builder Odds: 11.00

Odds as of 4pm September 8, 2022. Odds may now differ.
