Philadelphia Eagles v Miami Dolphins Same-Game Parlay, Opta Stats, Player Props

The Miami Dolphins (5-1) offensive juggernaut took another step towards immortality last week with a brutal beatdown of the winless Carolina Panthers, and now they’ll look to establish themselves as a true Super Bowl frontrunner when they head to Pennsylvania to take on the Philadelphia Eagles (5-1) – who will be looking to bounce back after suffering their first defeat of the year last week.

Our resident NFL expert Joshua Jones has a 5.25 same-game parlay that sees both running backs playing an important role…

Philadelphia Eagles v Miami Dolphins Same-Game Parlay: Running Backs DO Matter

AJ Brown 75+ Receiving Yards

The Miami Dolphins put on another clinic down in Florida last Sunday, accumulating over 400 all-purpose yards for the fourth time this season as they made mincemeat of the winless Carolina Panthers on the way to a comprehensive 42-21 victory.

Miami exploded into life in the second quarter after going down 14-0 in the first, scoring three quick touchdowns in less than 10 minutes of game time to take a 21-14 lead into the half, and they never looked back.

What Mike McDaniel is doing with their offence – admittedly against some pretty weak opposition at times – is nothing short of remarkable and has the Dolphins ranked as the 3rd best offence through six games since 1981, and the best of the last 20 years, per DVOA.

They have, however, faced three of the worst four defences in the NFL so far this season – with one ranking as the worst of the 21st century – and another ranking 26th of 32.

The worry for them moving forward is that the couple of times they have faced a decent defence they were massively impaired, with their points per game marks dropping from 44.8 per game down to less than half that at 22.0 per game.

The Philadelphia Eagles (#13) rank in the middle of the two better defences they faced (Buffalo #6, New England #14) but boast a much better offence than the Patriots (#7 vs #29) and an elite special teams unit (#3).

Nick Sirriani’s side are exceptionally good at slowing games down by running the football too – whilst Miami rank as one of the quickest for neutral game speed – but that doesn’t mean they can’t pull of big plays too, and AJ Brown is one of the very finest at it.

The wide receiver still had 131 yards in their shock defeat at the New York Jets, his fourth straight game with at least 125, and ripped off a huge 49-yarder in which he broke two tackles and made a very good Jets defence look very average.

The former Tennessee Titan has averaged 94.3 yards per game since making the switch to the Birds, and now faces a Dolphins defense that has allowed 170.5 yards per game to wide receivers.

Raheem Mostert 3+ Receptions

On the other side of the ball, Raheem Mostert had himself a monster game last weekend. The veteran back ran for 115 yards and two TDs, as well as catching 3 passes for 17 yards and another score to take his tally for the season to 11 total touchdowns.

Mostert saw an increased workload against the Panthers with the absence of De’Von Achane and would have had more if not for the fact Miami was able to rest him in the final quarter.

He’s caught at least three passes in three of his last four starts, and goes against an Eagles side that is allowing a lot of receptions to RBs through their six games this season.

Despite ranking as the #2 rushing defence in the league for yards per attempt, Philadelphia gives a lot of opportunities to receiving backs – allowing five receptions per game, the 12th-highest mark in the league.

D’Andre Swift 3+ Receptions

The Eagles naturally target their own dual-threat RB in the passing game a lot too, and D’Andre Swift ranks as one of the busier pass-catching backs.

Of running backs to play more than three games, the former Detroit Lion ranks fifth for receptions per game (4.50) and has caught at least three in four of his five starts this season.

His pass-catching workload increases the tighter their games have been and, with this one predicted to be a close game, expect Jalen Hurts to look for him when he drops back to pass.
