The 3-4 Tampa Bay Buccaneers host the 4-3 Baltimore Ravens on Thursday Night Football. Tampa Bay is the 1.5-point favourite, but both of these teams have poor records against the spread, with the Buccaneers going 2-5 and Baltimore sitting at 2-4-1. Losses to the Steelers and Panthers in their last two have been major disappointments for the Buccaneers, while consistency has been the problem for Baltimore. They are yet to win back-to-back games this season, and only narrowly beat the Cleveland Browns in Week 7.

All teams are banged up by this stage of the season. Neither of these clubs are an exception, with Mike Evans limited for Tampa and Mark Andrews not practising for Baltimore.

Offence has been stifled league-wide this season. These teams are a good example of that. Tom Brady has suddenly looked old. The Lamar Jackson-powered offence can leap from blistering to tedious. The Buccaneers are generally well-equipped to cope with the ground attack, which should help them keep Jackson under control.

Tampa Bay is struggling to move the ball up the field. Brady has the lowest touchdown rate of his career, and they are 26th in points scored per game. Six of their seven games have gone under 48.5 points. For Baltimore, it is five of seven. Feel confident backing under 48.5 total points on Thursday night.

For all their struggles, the Buccaneers are still doing a decent job at stopping the pass. Only five teams are allowing fewer passing yards per game. Still above average when it comes to pressuring the quarterback, the home team should be able to hassle Jackson here. The former MVP is averaging under 200 passing yards per game this season. He has recorded 174 or fewer yards in the air in three of his last four.

These teams average a combined 4.3 field goals per game. There is enough offensive talent to move the ball downfield sufficiently to attempt field goals, even if the defences are expected to get enough stops to keep this low scoring. Ryan Succop and Justin Tucker have been relied on more than either team would like. Over 3.5 field goals is great value here.

The Buccaneers have often been needing to fight back this season. They are one of the worst first-quarter teams in the league, averaging just 2.1 points. Baltimore, meanwhile, is in the top 10 with an average of over five points per first period. The Ravens to score in the first quarter (by any means) seems like a pretty safe bet as a result.

  •       Under 48.5 total points
  •       Lamar Jackson Under 209.5 passing yards
  •       Over 3.5 total field goals
  •       Ravens to score in first quarter
