Tennessee Titans vs Dallas Cowboys Bet Builder Tips: Thursday, December 29th

The 11-4 Dallas Cowboys are 12-point favourites over the 7-8 Tennessee Titans on Week 17’s Thursday Night Football. Dallas comes into this game following a season-altering 40-34 win over the high-flying Eagles, while the Titans have lost five in a row, including a 14-19 slip up against the lowly Houston Texans last time out.

These teams are miles apart this season. Dallas has the fourth-best point differential. Tennessee is eighth worst by that metric. Both, however, have excelled against the spread, with Dallas sitting 9-6, and Tennessee coming in at 8-6-1.

Injuries are a factor in this game, as is so often the case at this stage of the season. Tony Parsons and Micah Parsons are just two of the Cowboys listed as questionable, and Derrick Henry’s availability is uncertain.

Tennessee Titans vs Dallas Cowboys Preview

Fri, Dec 30. 01:15 (UK time)

Dallas is a two-way monster, placing top six in offence and defence. Tennessee has scored 19 or fewer points in eight of its last 10 to place alongside the league’s worst teams on the offensive side of the ball. On defence, the Titans are decent, having regularly held opponents below the magic 20 mark.

Doing so with this explosive Dallas offence seems like a longshot, however. Only the Vikings have allowed more passing yards than the Titans. They are well-below league average in net yards per pass attempt. It has been an up and down season for Dak Prescott, but this seems like a matchup in which he can thrive. He has hit this passing yards over in seven of eight games, and posted 347 yards in the air against the Eagles just last week.

While the Titans’ ability to slow down offences deserve respect, this Dallas offence does not get stopped easily. They haven’t scored under 26.5 points since Week 7, which makes this team total seem on the low side, even with the Titans expected to run the ball frequently. It makes sense to pair a big passing game from Prescott with the over.

With a chance that Tony Pollard sits out, Ezekiel Elliott’s workload could increase. Dallas is second in redzone scoring percentage, plus there is only a couple of teams scoring more touchdowns per game. Elliott is a frequent redzone weapon for the Cowboys, with a score in eight straight. Back him to make that nine on the bounce here.

Possessing an offence the Titans simply cannot keep pace with, the Cowboys are set for a comfortable road win. Covering the 12-point spread is possible, but not worthwhile in a bet builder. Pushing the line to 4.5 is a reasonable alternative.

  • Dak Prescott over 235.5 passing yards
  • Dallas Cowboys over 26.5 points
  • Ezekiel Elliott to score a touchdown anytime
  • Dallas Cowboys -4.5
