Best Weekend Prop Bets: March 18th-19th

There is plenty of domestic football to get stuck into for this weekend’s props preview. We have a nice mix of league and FA Cup action. There looks to be plenty of value as we enter the business end of the season.

Three of the five selections on last weekend’s preview won. Liverpool were unable to convert possession into shots as the game went on and that ultimately proved costly.

Nottingham Forest vs Newcastle Preview

England, Premier League, Friday, March 17th, 20:00 (UK)

Nottingham Forest have one win in their last nine matches in all competitions. Steve Cooper’s side have been pulled into the large pack of sides that are battling against relegation—just five points separate last place and 12th at this stage. There is a general feeling that relegation could spell disaster for Forest given their summer expenditure. Forest will be looking to discover the form that saw pull clear of the drop at the start of January.

Newcastle recorded an important victory over Wolves in their last league match to get their pursuit of a Champions League place back on track. Eddie Howe’s side had been on a run of six games without a win. They have now moved to within four points of Tottenham having played two games less.

Nottingham Forest vs Newcastle Best Bet

There were 34 tackles in the match when these sides met at St. James’s Park earlier in the season. Forest’s home matches in 2023 are averaging 34.6 tackles per game. This climbs to 37.5 if you exclude the game against Manchester City. Pep’s team’s matches are averaging just 27.52 tackles per game; by far the fewest in the league.

Newcastle’s away matches this season are seeing an average of 33.75 tackles per game. However, these numbers have increased in recent weeks. The Magpies’ last five matches on the road have seen an average of 35.8 tackles per game. This is despite the fact their last away match at the Etihad saw just 24 tackles.

  • Selection: Over 32.5 Tackles In The Match (TRACKED BET)
  • Best Odds: 1.83 (bet365)
  • Stakes: 7/10

Brentford vs Leicester Preview

England, Premier League, Saturday, March 18th, 15:00 (UK)

Brentford still harbour ambitions of earning a place in European competition for next season but they took a hit when they were beaten by Everton last weekend. They have since bounced back by beating Southmapton midweek. Thomas Frank’s side are 8th in the Premier League; one point behind Liverpool, who are in 6th place.

Leicester have lost their last five matches in all competitions. They currently sit two points above the relegation zone and the pressure continues to grow on Brendan Rodgers. The man who won the FA Cup with the Foxes has remained in position on the basis of his previous achievements. However, the fans have grown tired of the performances and they need to improve quickly.

Brentford vs Leicester Best Bet

Leicester have played four away matches in the Premier League in 2023 and are conceding an average of 17.75 shots per game in those matches. Southampton were the only side not to have 14 shots or more against the Foxes. The Saints are bottom of the league and still managed 11 shots.

Three points here is absolutely vital for their European chase. They had 15 shots when these sides played at the Gtech Community Stadium last season. They also had 14 shots in their last match in front of their home crowd.

  • Selection: Over 13.5 Shots For Brentford (TRACKED BET)
  • Best Odds: 1.86 (Unibet)
  • Stakes: 6/10

Chelsea vs Everton Preview

Premier League, Saturday, March 18th, 17:30 (UK)

Chelsea are currently on a run of three straight victories, their longest since Graham Potter’s first month in charge at Stamford Bridge. A spot in the top four looks to be beyond their reach this season but they still have a chance in the Champions League.

Everton haven’t beaten Chelsea in any of their last 20 visits and they have scored just twice in the last seven of those matches. However, the Toffees picked up a valuable three points in their last league match. There is now a genuine belief that they can avoid the drop with Sean Dyche at the helm.

Chelsea vs Everton Best Bet

Everton’s foul numbers have increased since Dyche took charge. Prior to his arrival, the Toffees were averaging 8.83 fouls per game. His team are averaging 12.71 fouls per game over his seven matches in charge. Their three away games since the former Burnley man took charge have seen an average of 15 fouls. The opponent has had 13 free kicks in all three of those matches.

Chelsea had 14 free kicks when these sides met earlier this season. This bet also landed when these sides last met at Stamford Bridge.

  • Selection: Over 12.5 Free Kicks For Chelsea (TRACKED BET)
  • Best Odds: 1.80 (bet365)
  • Stakes: 7/10

Manchester City vs Burnley Preview

England, FA Cup, Saturday, March 18th, 17:45 (UK)

Manchester City welcome back a club legend when Kompany brings his Burnley side to the Etihad. The Championship side have been exceptional this season under City’s former captain and it seems inevitable they will be in the Premier League next season. The Clarets will have to put in a colossal display to progress here. Burnley’s only defeat in their last 20 matches was against Manchester United.

Manchester City remain in the Champions League and are in the hunt for the Premier League but Guardiola will want to get his hands on as much silverware as possible. They have lost just once in their last 20 games at the Etihad.

Manchester City vs Burnley Best Bet

Manchester City’s home matches in 2023 are averaging 11.83 goal kicks per game; well under the mark set by the bookmakers here. Their matches in all competitions over the course of this season are averaging 13.32 goal kicks per game.

Although Burnley play in a lower division, I don’t expect them to roll over here. Kompany will want to ensure his side give a good account of themselves and they shouldn’t invite City to attack for 90 minutes.

Manchester City’s last FA Cup match against Bristol was fiercely competitive and there were just seven goal kicks in the match.

  • Selection: Under 14.5 Goal Kicks In The Match (TRACKED BET)
  • Best Odds: 1.83 (bet365)
  • Stakes: 7/10

Arsenal vs Crystal Palace Preview

England, Premier League, Sunday, March 19th, 14:00 (UK)

Arsenal suffered a defeat in a penalty shootout as they were eliminated from the Europa League by Sporting midweek. The Gunner’s sole focus is now winning the Premier League for the first time in 19 years. Arteta’s men have a five-point lead over Manchester City and they will be confident of maintaining that advantage.

Former Arsenal midfielder, Patrick Viera was sacked by Crystal Palace in the build-up to this game. The Eagles have opted to find a new manager to help them avoid the drop this season. They are currently 12th in the Premier League but are only three points above the relegation zone.

Arsenal vs Crystal Palace Best Bet

Arsenal are averaging 23.2 shots per game in their last five league matches where they have been similarly priced to win. Arteta will know his team’s performances so far this season merit silverware. He will be keen to ensure his team remains focused and bounce back from this disappointment in the Europa League.

The Gunners have been menacing at the Emirates. They have lost one of their 13 league matches in front of their own fans and are averaging 19.77 shots per game.

  • Selection: Over 17.5 Shots for Arsenal
  • Best Odds: 1.88 (Unibet)
  • Stakes: 7/10

Manchester United vs Fulham Preview

England, FA Cup, Sunday, March 19th, 16:30 (UK)

Manchester United are chasing more silverware this weekend as they aim to earn a place in the FA Cup semi-final. Erik Ten Hag’s side have already lifted the League Cup this season but they would love to add to that after a barren six-year run.

Fulham have performed very well in their first season back in the top flight. They are 9th in the Premier League in a season where avoiding relegation would have been considered a success. Marco Silva has restored his reputation after a poor spell at Everton several years ago. Fulham drew 1-1 the last time they played at Old Trafford.

Manchester United vs Fulham Best Bet

Manchester United have already played 14 matches at home in 2023. Over this period, there has been an average of 39.29 throw-ins per match. There has been 43 or more throws in their last four matches played at Old Trafford.

Fulham’s away matches this season are seeing an average of 38.63 throws per game. Desperation to win the ball back could also become a factor with this being a knockout tie. Fulham’s domestic cup matches this season are averaging 42.8 throws.

  • Selection: Over 37.5 Throws In The Match
  • Best Odds: 1.80 (bet365)
  • Stakes: 7/10
