EFL Cup Acca Tips: Wednesday December 22nd

I’ve got all three of Wednesday’s EFL Cup quarter-finals on my card here. There are some interesting clashes with all of them featuring two Premier League sides. Liverpool vs Leicester is perhaps the pick of the bunch but there are two London Derbies in the other matches. Tottenham vs West Ham will be intriguing and I’m backing over on goals in two of the three games. My EFL Cup acca has total odds of 11.82

 EFL CUP ACCUMULATOR SELECTION ODDS
Brentford vs Chelsea Brentford +0.25 (AH) 2.425
Liverpool vs Leicester Over 3.5 Goals 2.50
Tottenham vs West Ham Over 2.5 Goals 1.95
TOTAL ACCA ODDS: 11.82

Odds correct from bet365 as at 14:00 December 21st 2021. Odds may now differ.

Selection 1: Brentford vs Chelsea – Brentford +0.75 (AH)

Brentford welcome Chelsea for this London Derby in the EFL Cup and I’m backing them to get something from this match. The Blues are going through their most difficult spell under manager Thomas Tuchel. They’ve won only one of their last five matches in all competitions. The once-solid Blues defence has only kept one clean sheet in seven games.

Chelsea now take part in a League Cup match amid much disruption. They’ve got multiple first-team players out through injury or illness including Romelu Lukaky, Timo Werner, Kai Havertz, Hakim Ziyech and Jorginho, five of their most important players.

It’s fair to say that Chelsea haven’t got the best record in the competition so far this season. Tuchel has named weakened sides in both matches and the Blues have required penalties to get through both. Tuchel will no doubt have one eye on the Premier League match on Boxing Day. This already-weakened squad will be stretched past its limits in the coming weeks. That’s why I’m backing Brentford to get something out of this one.

Selection 2: Liverpool vs Leicester – Over 3.5 Goals

I’m backing over on goals in this one. Liverpool welcome Leicester to Anfield for this League Cup quarter-final matchup. The Reds plated their previous two matches away from home and won both without conceding. I don’t think that will happen here against a Leicester side that usually scores, especially away from home.

Like most of the managers at the top of the Premier League, Jurgen Klopp has rotated his squad for this competition so far. It would be a surprise if Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Diogo Jota all featured in this one. That doesn’t usually mean there will be a drop-off in goals. Liverpool’s second string usually find the net at least a few times whether that’s in the EFL Cup or the Champions League.

The same is true for Leicester City. The Foxes have had some luck with cup competitions in recent years as the current holders of the FA Cup. they’ve played strong sides in both matches thus far. They needed penalties to get past their only previous Premier League opponents after a 2-2 draw with Brighton. Leicester have had an average of 4.00 total match goals in their last seven away games in all competitions. I expect another high-scoring one here.

Selection 3: Tottenham vs West Ham – Over 2.5 Goals

Tottenham face West Ham in this EFL Cup quarter-final and I’m backing over on goals. I’m expecting both sides to get on the scoresheet in an exciting match. Both sides have gotten past two other Premier League opponents to get to this stage. Tottenham did well to get past Burnley and Wolves but West Ham have had the trickiest route. They knocked out both Manchester clubs to reach this stage.

Both clubs had near-full strength squads in both matches. David Moyes perhaps did a little more rotation but Spurs had Harry Kane start in both matches. Goals have been the norm since Antonio Conte took over in North London. Six of the seven matches he has been in charge for at Tottenham have had over 2.5 total match goals.

I can see another one here against a West Ham side that is due a good result. The Hammers haven’t scored for three matches in all competitions. They haven’t gone four straight competitive matches without scoring a goal since 2006. I expect them to get on the scoresheet here in an exciting match.

What is a Football Acca?

A  football acca is an accumulator bet, a type of bet that consists of several selections across different matches that are combined together into one single bet. An acca usually. consists of at least four selections but many more can be included. There will be odds for the single bet as a whole which is calculated by multiplying the odds of all of the selections. A  football acca is one of the most popular ways to bet. This is the case because they can create potentially massive odds for a small stake. Many punters choose to create Premier League accas which is what we have created here.If one of these selections loses then the football acca will lose. This type of bet needs every selection to win in order to succeed.
