We have Premier League action in midweek as Man United welcome Tottenham to Old Trafford on Wednesday night. Here at bettingexpert News, we have previewed this clash and have put together a bet builder selection that may take your interest.
In this article:
Wednesday, October 19th, 20:15 (UK)
It’s 3rd versus 5th on Wednesday night. Man United start as the slight favourites at 2.50 whilst Antonio Conte’s men are best priced at 2.90 to snatch all three points as they look to continue a strong start to the league season.
Man United were held to a 0-0 draw by Newcastle in their most recent match at Old Trafford. Despite their 15 attempts, Nick Pope was forced into making just two saves.
Spurs recorded their seventh win of the season as they overcame Frank Lampard’s Everton at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday evening. The London club dominated proceedings with 62% possession and 21 shots in comparison to Everton’s four.
Recent clashes between these clubs have produced plenty of entertainment. The Red Devils have been victorious in each of the last three meetings, scoring three times on each occasion. A little over two years ago saw a crazy scoreline in this fixture. Spurs won 6-1 at a spectator-less Old Trafford but have yet to earn a point since that day.
When these sides last met, Cristiano Ronaldo stole the headlines after helping himself to a hattrick. It saw the Portuguese phenomenon break the all-time FIFA record of scoring the most goals in professional football.
Firstly, I’m putting my faith in new boy Antony. His shooting stats since arriving from Ajax have been rather impressive. The Brazilian has recorded 14 shots in his four Premier League appearances with seven coming on target.
Despite playing just under an hour against Arsenal, the 22-year-old racked up three shots on a debut that saw him score the opener. He then managed an incredible five attempts against neighbours Man City in a heavy defeat. The winger had two against Everton and then four in the most recent clash against Newcastle. Clearly, he’s not afraid to pull the trigger.
Tottenham tend to play with a negative approach on the road and have conceded a healthy amount of shots to back that up. They’ve been outshot in four games from five allowing 83 shots against in just five outings with 21 of those finding the target.
My next selection within this bet builder is anti-Spurs once again. They have been giving up high numbers of goal kicks on the road. With a Man United side desperate for a win in order to stay with the leading pack, they’ll be giving it as good as they can.
Spurs have had the following goal kicks on the road this season: 7 12 10 10 12. Seven or more kicks has landed in all five matches against Spurs with double-digit numbers banking in the remaining four. That makes for good reading. Ultimately I believe this game is set out for the hosts to keep plenty of possession but Spurs will look to use their pace on the counter whenever they’re given a chance to do so.
