Newcastle vs Brighton Bet Builder Tips: Thursday, May, 18th

There’s just a single Premier League game on Thursday night, a huge clash between two top sides with everything to play for at St James’ Park. Here at bettingexpert Expert Insights, we have constructed Newcastle vs Brighton Bet Builder tips for this exciting match.

In this article:

Newcastle vs Brighton Preview

England, Premier League, Thursday, May 18th, 19:30 (UK)

Newcastle have picked up just a single point from their previous two Premier League matches meaning a top-four finish is still not confirmed with three games left to play. Liverpool’s rampant winning run has piled the pressure on Eddie Howe’s side who are priced at 1.28 to play Champions League football next season.

Brighton quickly brushed aside their shock 5-1 defeat to relegation battlers Everton over the weekend with an emphatic performance at Arsenal. It proved a fatal blow to the Gunners’ title hopes and a thoroughly deserved 3-0 win for the Seasiders in the capital.

These sides met all the way back in August. They shared the points after a 0-0 draw but it’s difficult to envisage another low-scoring clash in this one given the recent form of both teams.

The bookmakers are also expecting goals here, over 2.5 and BTTS are priced the exact same at 1.61. The Asian goal line is set at 3.0, that’s available to back at 2.00.

Eddie Howe’s side have lost just twice at home all season, those coming against Liverpool and most recently Arsenal. Only Liverpool, Arsenal and Man City have scored more goals than the Seagulls, a pretty remarkable stat all things considered.

Newcastle were keeping clean sheets for fun in the first half of the campaign but they’ve kept just one in their previous 15 outings and I can’t see them shutting out De Zerbi’s side on Thursday night.

Newcastle vs Brighton Stats & Facts

  • Brighton are the only team to have seen two or more goals in all of their away matches this season.
  • Newcastle are averaging 8.06 corners per 90 at home.
  • Only Arsenal (35) have scored more away goals than Brighton (33)
  • Callum Wilson is averaging a Premier League goal every 100 minutes.

Newcastle vs Brighton Bet Builder

BTTS is priced relatively short as a single but that’s understandable when you take a closer look at the stats. Brighton have scored in 16 of their 17 away trips this campaign with just three clean sheets to their name. They’ve found the back of the net in 23 of the previous 24 matches which includes all of their last 12.

Eddie Howe’s side has scored in 76% of matches at home this campaign. Arsenal, Villa, Man City and Liverpool are the only sides to have kept clean sheets against them in their previous 15 outings. Callum Wilson and Alexander Isak have more than enough quality to cause the Brighton backline problems.

Newcastle have picked up a caution in 17 of their previous 19 matches. This game is hugely important so they’ll be putting everything on the line. 33 of Brighton’s 34 opponents have seen a card this season and with Rob Jones’ 4.04 cards per 90 coming into the picture, I’d expect him to dish at least one out to the hosts.

Kaoru Mitoma has been a joy to watch this season for the Seagulls. The 25-year-old hasn’t found the back of the net for a while but it’s certainly not prevented him from having a shot.

The Japanese international has started 21 times this campaign, he’s managed a shot in 19 of those matches including all 11 on the road. Brighton’s shot statistics have been well above average lately. They may not reach 20 here as they’ve done so often but I’d expect Mitoma to unleash one at some point during this clash.

This game is set up to be an exciting watch, the bet builder has plenty of statistics to back up the selections which comes out at a juicy price.

  • BTTS – Yes
  • Newcastle Over 0.5 Cards
  • Kaoru Mitoma Over 0.5 Shots

Bet Builder odds: 2.20
