Premier League Acca Tips: Saturday January 1st 2022

I’m back for the first Premier League acca of 2022. This New Year’s Day Premier League acca has selections on all four Premier League matches for the day. The highlight of the games is 1st against 4th in the table as Manchester City face Arsenal at the Emirates. I’m backing a couple of upsets today and the rest of Matchday 21 so click here for the rest of my Premier League tips.

Selection 1: Arsenal vs Manchester City – Arsenal +1 (AH)
I’m backing Arsenal to get a result against Manchester City in this one. It’s a fixture that the Citizens have dominated for some time. They’ve won each of their last nine Premier League matches against Arsenal since a 2-2 draw in April 2017. Pep Guardiola’s men are on an excellent run of form and scoring goals for fun. The odds are heavily in their favour but I can see a small upset incoming here.
The Gunners are also on an excellent run of form. Mikel Arteta’s men have won four consecutive Premier League matches and are mounting a strong push towards Champions League qualification. They’ve won their last five at home in the Premier League and kept four consecutive clean sheets. They haven’t won five consecutive home league matches without conceding since 1999.
I don’t think they’ll break that record here but I can see them getting a result. Arsenal didn’t play in midweek and can rest key players for this one. This is their best chance of beating Manchester City in the Premier League for some time. City are due a defeat and I think they’ll get one in the next few matches.

Selection 2: Leicester vs Norwich – Leicester -1.5 (AH)
I’m going for a high-scoring home win at the King Power Stadium here. That is often the case when Leicester City feature. The Foxes have had an average of 4.50 total match goals in each of their last six Premier League matches. That includes the 1-0 victory over Liverpool in midweek.
Norwich are bleeding goals and aren’t scoring. They’ve gone five consecutive Premier League matches without finding the net. They conceded three against Palace in midweek and five against Arsenal a few days before. They haven’t won their first league game of the year in each of the last eight calendar years. Leicester, meanwhile, have won six of their last seven fixtures on New Year’s Day. I expect another one here.

Selection 3: Watford vs Tottenham – Watford +0.75 (AH)
I’m backing Watford to get a result against Tottenham here. This is more down to Spurs’ recent overperformance than anything else. Spurs haven’t lost a Premier League match since Antonio Conte took charge in North London.
They have however failed to improve on their poor away record. Spurs have won only one of their last six Premier League away games. That was at Newcastle back in October. They’ve scored only once in their last three on the road. Only Arsenal have a bigger difference in their average points per game for home and away matches. I can see them dropping points again here.

Selection 4: Crystal Palace vs West Ham – Palace +0.25 (AH)
I think Palace are priced unfairly here. The Eagles are the major outsiders against a West Ham side that is coming off the back of a dire run of form. They’ve won only two of their last eight in the league. They’ve conceded at least once in nine of their last 10 matches. They also have a dire record against sides from the capital. The Hammers have won only one of their last nine away London Derbies in the Premier League.
Palace have only won three of their last nine Premier League matches. All of those victories came at Selhurst Park. They’ve lost only once at home in the Premier League this season. I don’t expect them to lose here and if even if the sides draw, this bet will return something.

What is a Football Acca?
