It’s the first round of midweek fixtures and we’ve got Premier League best bets this Wednesday. All 20 teams are in action over three days but these best bets will focus solely on Wednesday. Current pace-setters Arsenal are in action at home to Villa while Liverpool and Manchester City also play. Manager-less Bournemouth host Wolves hoping to prove that the dismissal of Scott Parker was the right decision.

Arsenal host Aston Villa aiming to continue their perfect start to the Premier League season. The Gunners have won all four matches so far but did things the hard way against Fulham at the weekend. They fought back from a goal down to win the match 2-1 on Saturday evening and maintain their 100% start to the Premier League season.
Aston Villa made it one win and three defeats from four with their 1-0 loss to West Ham on the weekend. It’s been a difficult start to the season and the pressure is mounting on Steven Gerrard in the dugout. They’ve picked up where they left off on the road. It’s two defeats from two in the Premier League away from home after Villa went down at Bournemouth and Crystal Palace.
Villa now travel to take on an Arsenal side that has not dropped a point all season. The Gunners are the only side in England’s top five leagues to still have a 100% start to their season. Arsenal won both matches last season but Villa won the two in the season before then. The Gunners’ 3-1 victory in October last year put an end to a run of three consecutive victories for Villa in this fixture.
The expectation here is that Arsenal will continue their impressive start to the season with another victory. I’m not so sure. The Gunners were slow and a little fortunate to beat Fulham on the weekend.
They missed Oleksandr Zinchenko and Thomas Partey, the latter of which will be absent here. Mohamed Elneny will join him on the sidelines which leaves Arsenal short in midfield. I expect them to struggle to break down this Villa side and endure a difficult night. This bet still brings in some value should the Gunners

Manager-less Bournemouth host Wolves as both sides aim to get out of the bottom three. It’s been a difficult start to the season for the Cherries. They faced Arsenal, Manchester City and Liverpool in three of their first four matches. They conceded a total of 16 goals, six more than any other side in the English top flight. It cost manager Scott Parker his job but it’s too early to say how it will affect them in the table.
Wolves have endured a tricky start to their season. Bruno Lage’s side finished 10th last season but they haven’t continued that form into this campaign. They picked up where they left off and are now 11 consecutive Premier League matches without a victory.
It was a similar story last year. They lost six matches in a row but soon found their rhythm and bounced back. Goals have been the issue so far. They’ve only found the net twice in their four matches. This is the perfect opportunity for them to set that straight. Bournemouth have conceded 16 goals this season and have the third-worst xGA in the Premier League.
It’s time for Wolves to put an end to their recent run of form. The underlying data suggests it’s about time they did. Wolves are unbeaten in all four of their Premier League matches against the Cherries and I can’t see that changing here. I expect them to get the three points.

Manchester City host Nottingham Forest for what should be the biggest mismatch of the season. Forest have been as high as 51.00 to win this match. Those are extraordinary odds for a Premier League fixture especially considering Forest have taken four points from their last three.
Things have calmed a little since then. Still, Forest are available at around 34.00 to win this match which makes City the major favourites. The sides haven’t met in the league since 2002 back in the second tier. They did, however, face off in the FA Cup back in 2009. Forest won 3-0 that day but a repeat here would be a surprise.
The Asian line is extraordinarily high for this one. Yes, it’s a mismatch but it’s not as if Forest have lost every match hopelessly. Wolves are the only side outside the top 4 to have conceded fewer goals than Forest have this season.
That’s why I’ll be backing Forest here. I originally earmarked this bet last week as soon as the money lines came out. The Asian handicap line has since shifted from City-3 to City -2.75. It still represents value and I’ll be backing it here.
