Nottingham Forest vs Brighton Preview
Wednesday, April 26th, 19:30 (UK)
I’m heading to the City Ground with my opening selection as Steve Cooper and his struggling Forest side welcome The Seagulls on Wednesday night.
Forest are 19th, they’re just a single point off safety and have the worst goal difference in the division which could be a huge factor given how compact it is down the bottom. They’ve not picked up maximum points since early February, a run stretching 11 games, but at home is where they’ve performed relatively well.
Brighton have been one of the standout sides this campaign, the appointment of De Zerbi has seemingly taken the club to new levels both on and off the field. They occupy 8th spot in the league but have played fewer games than any other side. A European spot is well within reach for the club on the South Coast.
The Premier League newcomers have found the back of the net in 14 of their 16 home matches which include contests with Newcastle, Man City and Liverpool, with blanks coming against Spurs and most recently, Manchester United.
Brighton have been amongst the goals frequently on their travels, in their 15 away trips they’ve scored 29 with 23 going in at the opposite end.
Nottingham Forest vs Brighton Best Bet
Forest have to go for it here. Their Premier League status is at risk and have just six games to turn it around. The Tricky Trees will fancy their chances of finding the back of the net here given Brighton have kept just two clean sheets in 15 away days.
De Zerbi’s side have seen BTTS bank in nine of the last 10 outings, they create plenty of goalscoring chances but do leave space for their opposition to exploit. The price at 1.90 looks a good bet for me, I can see this going off a little shorter.
- Selection: BTTS – YES (TRACKED BET)
- Best Odds: 1.90 (Unibet)
- Stakes: 8/10

Everton vs Newcastle Preview
Thursday, April 27th, 19:45 (UK)
No side has scored fewer goals than Everton this season. They’ll attempt to breach the best defence in the league on Thursday night, a Newcastle side fresh after destroying Spurs on Sunday afternoon.
The Toffees have won just six of their 32 games this season, five of those have come at Goodison Park with three draws and eight defeats in front of their home fans. They’ve recorded just one victory in their last nine matches alongside four draws and as many defeats.
A lack of firepower in attacking areas could be the defining factor in Everton’s season, they’ve scored just nine goals in 12 games under Dyche. Only two players have scored more than three times across the campaign which is a huge worry for a side fighting for survival.
Newcastle’s chances of playing Champions League football look greater each week, they’re six points ahead of 5th-placed Spurs with a game in hand and will arrive here in confidence after their six-goal haul in the previous game week.
The Magpies have won seven times on the road this campaign and should be expecting to increase that figure to eight in Merseyside. They have a much better squad than Everton, a quality centre forward in Alexander Isak and a midfield trio that should take control of this contest.
Everton vs Newcastle Best Bet
Even at 1.80, the price of Newcastle to pick up maximum points is attractive. Everton have scored just 0.88 goals per game at Goodison Park, they’ll have to be at their very best to cause Newcastle problems.
The visitors have won six of their seven previous matches and I’m expecting them to win once again here. The pressure may get to the home side who have a challenging final few games to play.
- Selection: Newcastle To Win (TRACKED BET)
- Best Odds: 1.80 (Ladbrokes)
- Stakes: 7/10

Southampton vs Bournemouth Preview
Thursday, April 27th, 19:45 (UK)
After leading by two goals with just minutes left to play, Southampton may feel that it was two points dropped rather than a point gained in their 3-3 draw at the Emirates on Friday night.
The Saints have picked up just 12 points in their 17 matches since the restart, they’re sat at the foot of the table and slowly cutting adrift. Their home record is the worst by some distance with just two wins in 16 with one of those all the way back in August.
Bournemouth looked destined for the drop just a number of weeks ago, they’ve performed brilliantly in recent weeks which has seen them record five wins in their last 10 matches despite playing seven sides in the top half.
Fixtures don’t get much more important than this from a Southampton perspective, it’s a must-win for Ruben Selles’ side who are still set to play four sides currently in the top half. They’re priced at reasonable favourites heading here but you simply cannot trust them to win a game of football, especially at St Mary’s.
Southampton vs Bournemouth Best Bet
The proposed selection means we’ll walk away with profits if the visitors avoid defeat, something they’ve achieved in six of their 16 away trips.
Bournemouth have won back-to-back games on the road which came against Spurs and Leicester, they’ve been creating plenty of goal-scoring opportunities in recent weeks.
Southampton have kept a single clean sheet at home this season which came against Leicester who created upwards of 1.90xG on the day. In their last 13 games here, the Saints have scored multiple goals on one occasion. The pressure is on the hosts.
- Selection: Bournemouth +0.25 Asian Handicap (TRACKED BET)
- Best Odds: 1.910 (bet365)
- Stakes: 6/10
Best Odds available as at 22:00 April 23rd 2023. Odds may now differ.
