Newcastle vs Leicester Best Bet

I’m expecting goals as Newcastle take on Leicester at St. James’ Park. Newcastle finally put an end to their three-match losing streak with that 1-0 win over Wolves last week. It was the first time the Magpies had kept a clean sheet since mid-February.

They now welcome an in-form Leicester side. The Foxes have won four of their last six in the Premier League. It’s their best run of form for over a year in the Premier League. Brendan Rodgers’ side have benefitted from playing out much tighter, closer matches. Two of their last six matches have had over 2.5 goals. 10 of the 12 matches they played before then had over 2.5 goals.

I think they’ll open this one up and look to attack the Magpies. Leicester have won nine of their last 12 league matches against Leicester. They’ve won each of their last five Premier League away matches against the Magpies. The Foxes have never won six consecutive Premier League away matches against a single opponent.

I’m expecting goals and for both teams to get on the scoresheet. Both teams have scored in 66% of Leicester’s Premier League matches this season, the highest percentage in the league. Newcastle aren’t far behind at 61%. All of the last five meetings between the two clubs have had over 2.5 goals in them at an average rate of 4.2. Over 2.5 and Yes on BTTS is my pick here.

West Ham vs Burnley Best Bet

I’m going the other way with West Ham vs Burnley. The Hammers are just about the most consistently inconsistent team in the Premier League right now. West Ham have won three and lost three of their last six league games. All three wins came at home and all three defeats were on the road.

Burnley will be quietly confident coming into this one. The Clarets aren’t in the best form with one win in six but they’ve got a good record against the Hammers. Burnley have won two of their last four away matches against West Ham. That’s as many as they had in the 21 away fixtures before then.

Burnley are conceding too many goals lately. They’ve conceded at least twice in each of their last six. They haven’t had a longer such run in the league for over 60 years. Similarly, West Ham have scored in each of their last 17 home league matches. They haven’t gone on a longer such run for 45 years.

Some signs point to a positive result for Burnley. I was tempted to back Burnley plus half a goal in the Asian line but I’m looking at the goals market here. Both sides have struggled to find the net at times in recent weeks. Burnley have also had under 2.5 total goals in 63% of their Premier League matches this season, the 3rd-highest in the division.
