Last weekend’s Premier League props acca piece was the first loser of the season. We got back to winning ways in the Champions League, and now it’s time for six props bets for this weekend’s Premier League action.

There are four televised matches, the pick of the bunch being Arsenal vs Tottenham. The North London rivals are level on points coming into this clash.

Scott Thornton’s props bets get underway on Saturday afternoon. Let’s get to it:

Acca odds: 35.77

Odds via bet365 as at 09:00, September 22nd. Odds may now differ.

Luton vs Wolves: Luton to bare their teeth

England, Premier League, Saturday, September 23rd, 15:00 (UK)

Luton were the bookmaker’s favourite to go down before the start of the season, and their early results have left many speculating about whether they could snatch the unwanted record for the lowest points tally. However, that idea seems a bit fanciful at this stage. Luton played well in their last match at Kenilworth Road against West Ham and will be looking to make home advantage count here.

Wolves led Liverpool for a long period of their last match, but they eventually succumbed to the relentless pressure. Gary O’Neil’s side has three points so far despite playing reasonably well for the majority of their games. Nevertheless, a defeat here would certainly be cause for concern.

Regardless of the results, the Luton fans have rallied behind their team and are determined to enjoy the Premier League. They will be willing their side this weekend, and I expect a performance similar to the one against West Ham. Rob Edwards’ side managed 16 shots in that game. Their average 0f 10.75 shots per game so far is also above the required mark.

Wolves are conceding the 6th highest shots in the Premier League so far, with an average of 15.6 against per game. Just two of their opponents failed to have 11 attempts when they played on the road since the start of last season.

  • Selection: Over 10.5 Shots For Luton (TRACKED BET)
  • Best Odds: 1.83
  • Bookmaker: bet365
  • Stake: 8/10

Manchester City vs Nottingham Forest: City machine is unstoppable

England, Premier League, Saturday, September 23rd, 15:00 (UK)

Manchester City have made a flying start to the season. They have a 100% record in the Premier League and kicked off their Champions League campaign style midweek. They are favourites for all of the silverware once again, but Pep Guardiola will need to ensure complacency doesn’t become an issue.

Nottingham Forest have had a good start in their own right. The seven points they have picked up in their opening five matches has them in 8th place. They were also unlucky in their defeats against both Arsenal and Manchester United.

Pep Guardiola’s side rained shots down on the Belgrade goal in their last game. They racked up 37 attempts as they won 3-1. They had 29 shots in their last Premier League game against West Ham. These tallies were increased due to falling behind, but they should have plenty against Forest.

Nottingham Forest conceded 23 shots the last time they took on City. Chelsea had 21 attempts when Steve Cooper’s side travelled to Stamford Bridge for their last away fixture.

  • Selection: Over 19.5 Shots For Manchester City (TRACKED BET)
  • Best Odds: 1.90
  • Bookmaker: bet365
  • Stake: 7/10

Brentford vs Everton: Brentford on top in cagey affair

England, Premier League, Saturday, September 23rd, 17:30 (UK)

Brentford only have one league win so far, but their loss against Newcastle last weekend was their first of the season. Thomas Frank’s side were challenging for Europe last season before ultimately finishing in midtable. That also appears to be their target in this campaign.

Everton battled hard against Arsenal but eventually came out empty-handed. Despite the season being in its infancy, pressure is building on Sean Dyche, with his side yet to secure victory in the league. The Toffees have flirted with relegation in the last couple of seasons, and that looks set to be the case once again.
Brentford have forced plenty of goal kicks in recent weeks. Newcastle were home last weekend and still had 10 goal kicks. Bournemouth had 14 goal kicks in the Bees last home match.

Everton have had a plethora of goal kicks in their recent matches with Brentford. They had 12 in this fixture last season and have had at least 11 in their last three matches. As long as Everton hold firm in the early stages of the game and avoid conceding an early goal, they should have plenty here.

  • Selection: Over 8.5 Goal Kicks for Everton (TRACKED BET)
  • Best Odds: 1.72
  • Bookmaker: bet365
  • Stake: 7/10

Burnley vs Manchester United: Pressure on Manchester United

England, Premier League, Saturday, September 23rd, 20:00 (UK)

Burnley were denied a first win by VAR on Monday Night Football, but Vincent Kompany and his players will be relishing the chance to pick up that first three points against Manchester United on Saturday night.

Manchester United suffered a defeat against Bayern midweek. Erik Ten Hag’s side played reasonably well, but defensive errors proved costly. They have slumped to three defeats in their opening five league matches, and a loss on Saturday night would leave them languishing well behind in the league.

The Clarets have struggled to create in the majority of their matches, but their attack looked far more free-flowing in their last home match against Tottenham. Kompany’s side had 16 shots as they lost 5-2. This game should be similarly end-to-end.

Manchester United have looked very open thus far. They are conceding 15.2 shots per game as they struggle to offer their defence protection from midfield. They have conceded 17 attempts in both of their away games so far.

  • Selection: Over 10.5 Shots For Burnley (TRACKED BET)
  • Best Odds: 1.90
  • Bookmaker: bet365
  • Stake: 8/10

Arsenal vs Tottenham: Arsenal looking to gun down Spurs

England, Premier League, Sunday, September 24th, 14:00 (UK)

The North London Derby is definitely the pick of the bunch in the Premier League this weekend. Arsenal have enjoyed a strong start but know they need to keep on winning if they are to wrestle the title from Manchester City. Arteta’s men earned a 4-0 win over PSV midweek and will be full of confidence here.

Tottenham have been exceptional since the start of the season, and they are ahead of Arsenal on goal difference coming into this one. Ange Postecoglou has had a remarkable impact on the squad. The results are all the more impressive when you consider that Harry Kane departed on the eve of the Premier League season.

The Gunners will be keen to end Tottenham’s unbeaten record, and they have been formidable at home thus far. They are averaging 17 shots at the Emirates so far this season. Since the start of last season, Arteta’s side are averaging 18.2 shots per home league game.

Despite the convincing scoreline, Tottenham still conceded 16 shots in their last away game against Burnley. Arsenal had 22 attempts in this fixture last season.

  • Selection: Over 15.5 Shots For Arsenal (TRACKED BET)
  • Best Odds: 1.83
  • Bookmaker: bet365
  • Stake: 8/10

Sheffield United vs Newcastle: Blades put to the sword

England, Premier League, Sunday, September 24th, 16:30 (UK)

Sheffield United have struggled thus far, and they face another stern test this weekend. The Blades are one of the favourites for relegation and have just one point after five matches. Paul Heckingbottom’s side have been competitive in all their defeats; even Manchester City only managed to win by a single goal.
However, points on the board are when really matters in their bid to survive.

Newcastle beat Brentford last weekend before returning to the Champions League midweek. They’ve had a tricky start to this season, but it has done little to dampen the spirit around the club. Eddie Howe’s side has plenty of quality, and they should be slugging it out for a place in the top four again.

No side has taken more goal kicks than the Blades so far this season. They have had to absorb a lot of pressure, and their average of 11 a game would be enough for this bet to win. They had 13 goal kicks against Tottenham last weekend.

The Magpies haven’t been at their best so far this season, but they will be in the ascendancy here. In their last five games, where they have been similarly priced to win, their opponents have taken an average of 13.2 goal kicks per game.

  • Selection: Over 9.5 Goal Kicks For Sheffield United (TRACKED)
  • Best Odds: 1.72
  • Bookmaker: bet365
  • Stake: 8/10
