Liverpool vs Everton: Liverpool Can Throw Everton in at the Deep End

England, Premier League, Saturday October 21st, 12:30 (UK)

The Merseyside Derby kicks off the Premier League weekend, and Liverpool have the chance to temporarily go top with a comprehensive victory. Klopp’s side has only suffered one defeat so far this season, and it came in a controversial fashion. They were reduced to nine men and had a goal wrongly disallowed by VAR against Spurs as they lost 2-1. However, Klopp will be encouraged by the fact his team look back to their best.

Everton are three points above the relegation zone and travel to Anfield in pursuit of just their second win at the ground since 2011. Sean Dyche’s side have been wasteful in front of goal this season. They have the joint-highest non-penalty xG in the Premier League but are averaging just 1.13 goals per game.

Liverpool’s matches have seen slightly more throws than the Premier League average so far this season, but the numbers in their recent games with Everton are far more encouraging. There were 43 and 57 throws in last season’s meetings. This bet has landed in four of the previous five meetings at Anfield, with an average of 47 per game.

The Toffees’ matches have seen the most throws in the league by some distance. Their matches are averaging exactly 46 throws per game, and there have been 42 throws or more in six of their eight Premier League matches.

  • Selection: Over 41.5 Throws In The Match
  • Best Odds: 1.80
  • Bookmaker: bet365
  • Stake: 8/10

Manchester City vs Brighton: Pep Remains The Master of Control

England, Premier League, Saturday October 21st, 15:00 (UK)

These sides played out some entertaining matches last season, and it’s a surprise that this one was chosen as a 3 pm kick-off. Manchester City have lost back-to-back Premier League matches and surrendered their place at the top of the table. Guardiola’s side have lost three of their last four competitive matches and need to bounce back here.

Brighton are 6th in the league and will be happy with the start they have made, but a run of four matches without a win in all competitions is cause for concern for Roberto De Zerbi. The Seagulls were beaten 6-1 in their last league match on the road. Another lacklustre defensive display at the Etihad could see them put to the sword once again.

Pep Guardiola’s side may not have been at their best in recent weeks, but they haven’t conceded many chances. They don’t allow their opponents many opportunities to shoot, particularly at the Etihad. They are conceding an average of 7 shots per game this season, the lowest in the league.

The Seagulls rank highly in terms of shots on Roberto De Zerbi, who has earned several plaudits for the way his team play. However, they had just eight shots at this ground last season. In fact, Brighton have never had more than eight shots in their last seven visits to Manchester City. Over this period, they are averaging 5.14 shots per game.

  • Selection: Under 9.5 Brighton Shots
  • Best Odds: 1.72
  • Bookmaker: bet365
  • Stake: 8/10

Chelsea vs Arsenal: The Gunners are Braced for Battle

England, Premier League, Saturday, October 21st, 17:30 (UK)

Chelsea have lost their last three matches against Arsenal and are in the bottom half of the table coming into this fixture. Nevertheless, there has been an improvement in the underlying data from last season, and Pochettino’s side have strung together three consecutive wins in all competitions.

Arsenal looks to be a strong contender for the title once again. They edged past Manchester City 1-0 in their last match to join Tottenham at the top on 20 points. Arteta has been tinkering with his side in the early stages of this season, but the results have been consistent, and they remain unbeaten.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side have forced a good amount of tackles this season. Their opponents are averaging 18.62 tackles per game, well above the league average of 17.57. when playing at home, their opponent’s average tackles rise to 20.25.

Arsenal had 28 tackles in their last away match against Bournemouth, and their recent tackle numbers away to Chelsea have also been high. The Gunners were in control at Stamford Bridge last season but still racked up 17 tackles. Arteta’s men had 20 tackles when they visited Chelsea in the 2021/22 season.

  • Selection: Over 15.5 Tackles For Arsenal
  • Best Odds: 1.72
  • Bookmaker: bet365
  • Stake: 8/10

Sheffield United vs Manchester United: The Blades can Fend off Ten Hag’s side

England, Premier League, Saturday, October 21st, 20:00 (UK)

Sheffield United are rooted to the bottom of the table coming into this one. They are still awaiting their first Premier League win since being promoted from the Championship, and they have scored the fewest goals in the division. The international break has given them a chance to regroup, and they are taking on an out-of-form Manchester United side.

Erik Ten Hag’s side have been plagued by injury in the early part of this season, and it has had an impact on performances. They were fortunate to beat Brentford before the international break and have lost four of their last six league matches.

The Blades have had the 2nd most goal kicks in the league with an average of 9.62 per game, but they are taking on a United side that hasn’t been able to control matches since the start of the season. Paul Heckingbottom’s side had just six goal kicks in their last league home match against Newcastle.

Manchester United’s opponents are averaging 7.5 goal kicks per game this season. This is especially low when you consider they have been chasing the game at home to Brentford, Crystal Palace, Brighton and Nottingham Forest. In away matches, their opponents are averaging 4.33 goal kicks per game.

  • Selection: Under 8.5 Goal Kicks For Sheffield United
  • Best Odds: 2.10
  • Bookmaker: bet365
  • Stake: 7/10

Aston Villa vs West Ham: Hammers can Take the Game to Villa

England, Premier League, Sunday, October 22nd, 16:30 (UK)

Aston Villa had to settle for a draw away to Wolves before the international break, but Unai Emery will be delighted with the way his team have played since the opening-day defeat against Newcastle. The Villains are 5th in the table and have shown the quality needed to compete for a place in the Champions League.

Like Villa, West Ham have also started the season in fine form. Their only defeats have been against Liverpool and Manchester City. The Hammers have the chance to leapfrog their opponents in the league with a win on Sunday.

Unai Emery’s sides’ matches rank low in terms of throws, but their home matches have seen an average of 35.33 per game. There were a whopping 48 throws when they welcomed David Moyes’ sides to this ground last season, and this bet has landed in the last four head-to-heads at Villa Park.

There has been 36 throws or more in three of West Ham’s four away matches so far. The only game where this bet didn’t land was the win over Brighton. The Hammers took an early lead in that one and chose to sit off. Their away matches overall are averaging exactly 36 throws.

  • Selection: Over 33.5 Throws In The Match
  • Best Odds: 1.72
  • Bookmaker: bet365
  • Stake: 7/10

Tottenham vs Fulham: Premier League Trend can Continue with Postecoglou’s Possession Hungry Approach

England, Premier League, Sunday, October 22nd, 16:30 (UK)

Tottenham are the league leaders coming into this match day, and they will have the chance to regain that spot on Monday night. Ange Postecoglou’s side showed great character, winning at Kenilworth Road despite having ten men in their last match. Spurs are unbeaten thus far, and they could cement their place as title contenders with a good run-up until Christmas.

Fulham’s recent win over Sheffield United saw them climb to 12th in the table. Marco Silva’s side have made a solid but uninspiring start to the season, but they will be reasonably happy given the loss of Aleksandar Mitrovic.

Spurs’ recent matches against Fulham have seen plenty of throws, but the team have looked far more accomplished in possession since Postecoglou took the reins. Tottenham’s only home match against a side in the bottom half finished with 34 throws.

There have been 36 throws or fewer in Fulham’s last three away matches in the Premier League, with an average of 32 per game. Marco Silva’s men have been happy to sit off in away matches, and they are allowing 18.25 passes per defensive action on the road. This should enable Spurs to move the ball around the back uncontested and keep the throw-count down.

  • Selection: Under 38.5 Throws In The Match
  • Best Odds: 1.80
  • Bookmaker: bet365
  • Stake: 7/10
