Crystal Palace face the league leaders in the opening match of the weekend. Chelsea are back at Stamford Bridge early on Saturday. There is plenty of action after that but the weekend is rounded off with the Manchester Derby (which Scott has also covered here on bettingexpert) on Sunday.

Acca odds: 33.85

Crystal Palace vs Tottenham: A Cockerel Soaring Above an Eagle?

England, Premier League, Friday, October 26th, 20:00 (UK)

Crystal Palace suffered a heavy defeat at St. James’s Park last weekend, but Roy Hodgson will be happy with the way his team has started the season. They are 11th coming into this weekend. The Eagles have a small squad, so a fast start is essential ahead of the busy festive calendar.

Tottenham took the outright lead in the Premier League with their Monday night win over Fulham. Ange Postecoglou has done a remarkable job since taking the reins, and his side have the chance to put the pressure on the chasing pack by winning on Friday night. Spurs are unbeaten in their nine league matches and have scored the 4th most goals.

Both of these sides rank highly in terms of tackles. Crystal Palace are averaging 20 tackles per Premier League game this season. They are also the 3rd most tackled team in the league, with their opponents racking up 20.44 per game.

Like Palace, Tottenham are also making 20 tackles per game on average. However, Ange Postecoglou’s side are forcing slightly more tackles from their opponents, with 21.25 against per league match. The last time Spurs travelled to Selhurst Park, there were 44 tackles in the game.

  • Selection: Over 38.5 Tackles In The Match
  • Best Odds: 1.80
  • Bookmaker: bet365
  • Stake: 9/10

Chelsea vs Brentford: Chelsea on an Upward Trend

England, Premier League, Saturday, October 27th, 12:30 (UK)

Chelsea looked to have secured three points against Arsenal last weekend, but they let their lead slip in the latter stages. Mauricio Pochettino hasn’t had an easy start to life at Stamford Bridge, but there have been undeniable signs of progress since he took the reins. The Blues are unbeaten in their last four competitive matches.

Brentford ended their run of eight competitive matches without a win last weekend as they blitzed Burnley 3-0. Thomas Frank’s side were in contention for a European place for much of last season. They eagerly await the return of Ivan Toney in January as they look to climb into the top half.

The Blues are averaging the 7th fewest tackles per game in the Premier League so far this season. They are averaging 14 tackles in their last five meetings with Brentford. The previous two times these sides have met at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea have had 12 and 9 tackles.

Brentford have played four league away matches so far this season. Their opponents are averaging just 10.75 tackles across those matches, and this bet has landed in three of those games.

  • Selection: Under 15.5 Tackles For Chelsea
  • Best Odds: 1.72
  • Bookmaker: bet365
  • Stake: 8/10

Bournemouth vs Burnley: Iraola’s Last Stand

England, Premier League, Saturday, October 27th, 15:00 (UK)

Bournemouth’s decision to sack Gary O’Neil in the summer raised several eyebrows. Their poor start under Andoni Iraola has done nothing to justify that decision, and pressure is growing on the former Rayo Vallecano boss coming into this one. The Cherries are still searching for their first win of the season.

Burnley have also struggled in the opening months. The Clarets looked like the newly promoted side that were best equipped to handle the rigours of the Premier League prior to the start of the campaign, but they have picked up just four points. Their only win so far came against Luton.

The Cherries have had fewer shots than their opponents in all of their league matches so far. Iraola’s side are averaging 11.22 shots per game but conceding 18.67. Only Sheffield United have conceded more. This bet has landed in all five of their home matches thus far.

Burnley have struggled in terms of creativity, but they need to take advantage of a Bournemouth side that are drastically low on confidence. Vincent Kompany’s side travelled to this ground in the FA Cup last season and managed 12 shots.

  • Selection: Over 11.5 Shots For Burnley
  • Best Odds: 1.80
  • Bookmaker: bet365
  • Stake: 8/10

Wolves vs Newcastle: Wolves Hunting Tired Legs

England, Premier League, Saturday, October 27th, 12:30 (UK)

Gary O’Neil will be pleased with his work since taking over at Wolves. They’ve picked up 11 points already despite being handed some tricky opening fixtures. They’ve only faced sides currently in the top seven at Molineux this season but showed they are capable of an upset when they beat Manchester City 2-1.

Newcastle’s great run came to an end midweek when they lost at home to Borussia Dortmund. The defeat blew their Champions League group wide open, and it remains to be seen whether fatigue will be an issue for Eddie Howe’s side. They are in 5th place coming into this weekend.

Wolves are averaging 12 shots per league game this season despite the tricky start. They have had 11 or more in two of their four home matches and managed ten shots in this fixture last season.

The Magpies don’t concede a great deal of shots, but tired legs could be a factor after their Champions League clash with Dortmund. Their opponents in away matches this season are averaging 10.75 shots per game.

  • Selection: Over 9.5 Shots For Wolves
  • Best Odds: 1.83
  • Bookmaker: bet365
  • Stake: 7/10

West Ham vs Everton: Moyes’ to Whip Out his Toffee Hammer

England, Premier League, Sunday, October 28th, 13:00 (UK)

West Ham were beaten 4-1 at Villa Park last weekend, but they have put the demons of last season behind them with their strong start. The Hammers look like contenders for a European place rather than relegation battlers. However, David Moyes’ side needs a win here to get back within reach of the top six.

Everton were resolute for large periods of their loss at Anfield last weekend, but a first-half red card for Ashley Young made an already difficult task even harder. Sean Dyche’s side are three points above the drop zone ahead of this weekend’s action.

West Ham’s matches have seen the fourth-fewest throws in the league this campaign, but they are taking on a side that is at the opposite end of the spectrum. This is an important game for both, and the hard-fought nature should lend itself to throws.

The Toffees’ matches are averaging 46 throws, the most in the Premier League by some distance. The average amount of throws in a Premier League match this season is just 35.7. This bet has won in seven of their nine matches so far. The exceptions came against Arsenal and Aston Villa.

  • Selection: Over 40.5 Throws in The Match
  • Best Odds: 1.80
  • Bookmaker: bet365
  • Stake: 7/10

Manchester United vs Manchester City: Old Trafford Braced for Demolition Derby

England, Premier League, Sunday, October 28th, 15:30 (UK)

Manchester United picked up all three points against Copenhagen by the skin of their teeth. They also rode their luck in the win over Sheffield United last weekend, and the signs are ominous ahead of the Manchester Derby. Erik Ten Hag’s side have put in a series of laboured performances since the season began, and there have been no indications that they are about to turn a corner.

Manchester City suffered back-to-back league defeats prior to their win over Brighton, and it has set them back in the table. Pep Guardiola’s side are two points behind Tottenham, and dropping points at Old Trafford could see them slip out of the top four.

The Red Devils’ matches have seen the 7th fewest throws in the division. Under 29.5 throws has landed in four of their last five head-to-heads with Manchester City. There were just 23 throws when they hosted Brighton this season, the only other side whose matches have averaged below 29 throws.

Pep Guardiola’s side are controlled in possession, and as such, their matches have seen very few throws in comparison to most other sides across recent Premier League seasons. City’s matches are averaging just 28.78 throws this season.

  • Selection: Under 29.5 Throws In The Match
  • Best Odds: 1.83
  • Bookmaker: bet365
  • Stake: 8/10
