PSG vs Monaco Bet Builder: Sunday, August, 29th

One of the most intense clashes in the Ligue 1 season takes place this weekend, so here we have some PSG vs Monaco bet builder tips. PSG are the team to beat again this season, and their goal record at this early stage is terrifying. Monaco have beaten PSG in two of the last four meetings, so the home side will be aware of the threat they pose.

In this article:

PSG vs Monaco Preview

Sunday, August 29th, 19:45 (UK)

PSG have been frightening in the early stages of Christophe Galtier’s tenure. The Parisians have scored 17 goals in their opening three league games, and it looks as though the new manager has got their feared front three operating as a unit. There will be sterner tests for the champions, but the early signs are ominous for the rest of the division.

Monaco have endured a tough start to the season, winning just one of their opening three matches, and being reduced to 10 men in their last two matches. Monaco are usually one of the teams immediately behind the PSG in the chasing pack, but very few expected them to challenge for the title this season.

A defeat here for the visitors would see them fall eight points behind Paris, and that is a deficit that I cannot see being overturned. Monaco’s priority will be Champions League qualification, and they will find themselves on the back foot in that race should they get thumped here.

Messi, Neymar and Mbappe all look set to play, so it could be a miserable 90 minutes for the side that conceded four against Lens in their last match.

PSG vs Monaco Stats & Facts

  • PSG are averaging over 4.5 goals per game from the start of pre-season.
  • One of these sides has kept a clean sheet in the last four meetings.
  • Monaco were unbeaten in their last 10 matches last season (winning nine) but have failed to carry that form into this season.
  • PSG are unbeaten at home in 28 matches in all competitions.

PSG vs Monaco Bet Builder

As previously mentioned, the last four meetings between these teams haven’t seen both sides score, but each of them has two wins to their name over this period. PSG have also shown some defensive frailties so far this season, and I can see Monaco pinching a goal here. So both teams to score looks to have some value here.

Despite conceding two in their last home game against Montpellier, PSG still ran out as comfortable 5-2 winners. I expect them to play in a similar manner here, and create a number of chances for their forwards. Scoring 17 goals in the first three league matches is nothing short of remarkable, and the Parisians should be rampant again here. The home side to score more than three goals in the match looks to be a good shout given how free-scoring they are at this moment in time.

This fixture has been synonymous with cards in recent years, but unfortunately, the overall cards markets in the builder aren’t available at the time of writing. Instead, I’m going to pick Youssouf Fofana to be carded. Fofana was sent off was yellow carded in the first match of the season, before being sent off in the second. He is set to return here, and he should occupy the midfield channel that puts him in direct opposition with Lionel Messi.

Finally, we have Messi to find the back of the net. The Argentine great has three goals in three matches, and Galtier appears to be getting the best out of him by deploying him in a more central role than his predecessor. Messi should find space in front of the opposition defence, and I can see him making them pay here.

  • Both Teams To Score
  • PSG Over 3 Goals
  • Youssouf Fofana To Be Booked
  • Lionel Messi To Score
