The Premier League returns this weekend with more exciting games on the cards. Arsenal continue to lead the way at the top of the Premier League but all eyes will be on Anfield this weekend. Liverpool host Manchester City for a game that might not impact the title race as many would have expected but is still sure to provide excitement.

Thomas Frank and his Brentford side have had some soul-searching to do after suffering their heaviest-ever Premier League defeat in the last round as they fell 5-1 to Newcastle. Dealing with aerial threats has been one of Brentford’s biggest downfalls this season, with a league-high six headed goals conceded already.
Whilst Roberto de Zerbi is yet to achieve his first win as Brighton boss, he certainly hasn’t disgraced himself across his opening two games. An exhilarating 3-3 draw with last season’s Champions League finalists Liverpool was followed by a narrow defeat to Spurs, a result which de Zerbi described as “not fair”, as he seeks his own ‘third time lucky’ in the form of a win that would see Brighton move into fourth place, at least until Sunday.

Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers criticized his team for getting “too comfortable” during their 2-1 Premier League defeat to Bournemouth. Nobody at the club will be happy following what was their 250th PL defeat or with their current position at the bottom of the standings. Especially as they’ve dropped a league-high 14 points from winning positions this term.
With Foxes fans now calling for Rodgers to resign for the good of the club’s future, he badly needs a repeat of their recent 4-0 home win against Nottingham Forest

Can Fulham start the gameweek inside the top ten after making a decent start following their return to the Premier League, yet two straight defeats for the first time this season have perhaps dented the confidence of Marco Silva’s side. They conceded seven goals across those two losses, meaning Fulham have now conceded 18 league goals this season – only three PL teams have let in more.
Many people felt Bournemouth were a shoo-in for relegation this season after they were humiliated 9-0 by Liverpool at the end of August, with outgoing former manager Scott Parker claiming in the wake of that loss that the Cherries desperately needed new players. Yet under interim boss Gary O’Neil, Bournemouth are unbeaten in five straight league matches while conceding just four goals, a total no other Premier League side can better during that period.

It’s been two weeks since Wolverhampton Wanderers sacked Bruno Lage following a 2-0 loss to West Ham, yet they still haven’t appointed a new boss. They’ve been linked with several potential suitors, with Sevilla’s Julen Lopetegui looking like an absolute certainty at one stage, but he has turned down the club.
Now, Steve Davis and James Collins must try to guide Wolves to a first win since early September. They will fancy their chances at doing just that against a woeful Nottingham Forest side.

A week on from becoming the first visiting Premier League club to win at Brighton in seven months, Tottenham are looking to preserve their own lengthy winning streak at home that ironically dates back to a loss to Brighton in April 2022. A first-half blitzkrieg cancelled out some shambolic early defending against Eintracht Frankfurt in the Champions League during midweek to secure back-to-back competitive wins for the first time in a month.
Needless to say, manager Frank Lampard will want a better showing than the 5-0 loss from his previous trip to Tottenham, which was part of the seven consecutive away losses in all competitions that he began his Everton managerial tenure with.

Chelsea have started to steady the ship under Graham Potter with four consecutive wins under their new manager and will be aiming to make it five in a row. They will be fortunate to be taking on an Aston Villa side that has struggled to score of late, with only two goals in their last three outings.
The Blues have also shown new-found solidarity in defence as well, with three successive clean sheets, making them favourites to claim another win here.

If there were any doubts after Arsenal’s 3-1 win over Tottenham, the Gunners cleared those doubts with another statement victory against Liverpool at the weekend.
It took Arsenal only 58 seconds to open the scoring and despite being pegged back twice, they showed their test of character to claim a 3-2 win at the Emirates Stadium, courtesy of Gabriel Martinelli and a brace from Bukayo Saka.
Arsenal are on top form at the moment and we don’t see Leeds stopping them. Admittedly, Leeds are difficult opponents at home but they shouldn’t be too tough for Mikel Arteta’s men to tackle. The Gunners might be stopped in their tracks at some point but it shouldn’t be here.

With four wins from their last five, Manchester United are looking like a rejuvenated side under Ten Hag and many might have forgiven them after their 6-3 loss to Manchester City. Despite a woeful start to the campaign, United are only just one point behind 4th placed Chelsea but face stern opposition in the form of Newcastle, who lie in 6th place and similarly just one point behind the Red Devils themselves.
United will have to be at their very best to dispatch the Magpies and we can expect an end-to-end encounter at Old Trafford.

After a woeful start to the campaign, David Moyes would have been a relieved man after guiding his side to two consecutive wins for the first time this season. Searching for their third league win on the bounce, they take on a struggling Southampton side with four consecutive defeats and only one goal in their last four outings.
The Hammers will know they won’t get a better chance than this to rack up more points and they should be able to do just that.

Over the years, this fixture usually points a direction to who will win the Premier League but this time around, it is a clash between two sides with different ambitions.
Jurgen Klopp has already ruled Liverpool out of Premier League contention but despite their struggles, they remain one of the sides that can cause a dent in City’s title ambitions, especially with their confidence after a 7-1 thrashing of Rangers in midweek.
Regardless, the numbers don’t lie and Liverpool are winless in their last five Premier League games against Manchester City but they’ve also never gone six without a win against the Citizens in their league history.
We can expect fireworks at Anfield but City still remain the favourites going into this encounter.
